So apparently the only place on my insurance doesn't honor bpd.. she told me that i was severly depressed and to choose from either being Bipolar or schizophriena. because "that's the only thing we can diagnosis you with" .. apparently they wont honor the diagnosis I ALREADY have.

Though I know i'm not... I feel so alone.

Some insurance will not pay for personality disorder treatment because it isn't short-term treatment.

I think they just want to bill with a dx that will get your treatment paid. The treatment will be the treatment you need, but for billing purposes, the dx will be something the insurance company will honor and pay for. It's playing the system to get you the treatment you want.
Thanks for this!

Yeah, I hate having mis labels though.
And Echoes, you make a very good point. I guess I haven't thought of that yet.
I have a psychiatrist appt on the 6th, but the counsellour has yet to call and set up an appointment. The lady who did the intake said that they would call me, because all the counselours have their "own schedule". ...

I wouldn't worry too much about the "labeling" (provided that your current therapist gives accurate records to the new one). As Echoes said it's a process. The doctor must tell the insurance company what they want to hear to so the bills get paid. This is not unique to mental health issues.

0_o how did you know that my current T was gonna talk to my new one? *paranoid* Did I mention that?
(I'm probably over paranoid there... sorry if I am. lol)

And thanks, I'll try not to worry so much over the labeling. I think the most thing I fear from that, is they are gonna go "Oh you're this, so lets put you on this type of mediciene" (Because I've had that happen before).

I really wish I could understand the insurance. Though it kinda makes sense, in the same sense I am on ssi and medicaid because i have bpd.. soo.. them giving me a diffrent diagnosis will sorta mess with the ssi part at least... and i'm not sure what to do about that now.

You did not mention that, I simply assumed there would be some form of communication because that is the responsible thing to do.

Thanks.
I see the psychiatrist tomm. I have yet to hear back from them about my counsloure or when my appt is.
I will be happier when I know what she's like. and if she will understand and not have her mind set on what the intake results are.. (Like i am. lol)
