LOL
I've been thinking about that eHow post.....I think the Hitler as borderline comes from a suckie book by Barbara Oakley called Evil Genes...a book that, supposedly, "intertwines" her personal story--which includes (drumroll) a borderline sister and the science of the brain, genetics, etc. and takes on the roles and "psychiatric disorders" of notable MEN in history: Machiavelli, Hitler, Milosevich, Mao. The book was really, really irritating: her sister = bad men in history, because....she was ....bad......and, uh....they are too. In fact, they're all SINISTER! and then she throws in some genetics and social science--I guess because that makes it looks like it's objectve. Oh--and there are a couple of sections in the last chapter that are really, really important for the world: "Who ARE the Successfully Sinister?", and "How Can You Tell?) THEN, and I am still trying to figure out how to phrase my hate-letter, RANDI KREGER wrote an afterword for the book!!!! HUH????.....I cannot believe it. Maybe she didn't read the book?....If you haven't read it, I don't think you should bother. It has good, solid parts to it, but the way it is all jumbled up together, with a ton of personal resentment thrown in? Forget it!!! |

If RANDI KREGER is giving the thumbs up to this book then she might be getting a serious kickback. Publishing is a business. She wrote a lot of great articles on BPD. But she keeps stating that she has been "cured" from BPD. I think that is stupid. The symptoms of BPD can be managed more effectively but one doesn't heal from a personality. BPD'ers are very creative and emotional types; it isn't a diease to be this way it just means that coping with ones inner experiences and outer environment will always be challenging because of the intense emotional state. BPD isn't the worst thing in the world. At it's best it does make life more interesting. |

I needed this validation of my concerns about someone who claims they're cured, too....Cured doesn't make sense....
I need to get over the betrayal I feel by such a person, too....it sure does create some misconceptions...on the wrong side of the equation for us. It makes me sad when such a person does that. I don't know her life, but when she speaks for "borderlines" she is causing me trouble...I read a lot, research a lot. The people in my life expect me to be intellectual and to be able to explain things to them. I've been finding that very tough to do when the works are by "recovered borderlines." Can you recover from diabetes? No. You manage it.....Just like you said for us and bpd. And that is a very, very heroic effort... ![]() |

Yea it is like alcoholism. Never get over that just gotta deal with it one day at a time and try not to dwell to deeply on the past and all those painfull memories. There is no cure for either one. Well at least that's this mans opinion.

And another thing anyone who campares the actions of infamous historical figures like Hitler to BPD then they don't know what it is like being BPD. People like Hitler believe whathey were doing was good and saw nothing wrong with their actions. BPDers have remorse for our actions and we don't want to do these things. We just tend to loose touch and control sometimes.

To be fair, Oakley also "diagnoses" Hitler, Mao, Princess Diana (the only woman in the bunch aside from her sister),etc. as narcissists. But....much of the research, and hers included, makes a point that borderlines, in general, are also highly narcissistic.
In the end, I say to myself, "Whatever." And get on with it--an "it" which has little to do with what anyone writes about me or any condition(s) with which I am diagnosed. ![]() ![]() |

You know your freinds with too many boarderlines when you have funny stories to back all these posts.
You arrive at your friends house because they were in a crisis. They slam the door in your face so you come back ten minutes later with a bag packed with cheese cake, first aid supplies, overnight gear, lots of caffeen, having already emailed their T a warning and knowing several places where you can hang for a half hour or so until they decide they like you again and you don't have to keep going to the same place over and over again every time they hate you. ![]()

Yeh, My friends keep getting really pissed off at me because I just move far enough away that I don't end up in the ER with a broken nose when they slam the door in my face. I just can't figure out if they are mad that I am standing there or that they missed my nose... Usually I just deside "yes".

^ That sounds exactly like me.
![]() You know your Borderline when you post on PC giving someone advice and when the next person who posts doesn't acknowledge your post you assume the whole website hates you and vow never to post again, only to be back on the next day.
