I have just been diagnosed with BPD and I really have not looked into it to much. I had been given so many diagnoses over the past five years and been mostly treated for bi polar and anxiety. I am really confused about all the different diagnosis and the different therapies and the different medications. I am starting DBT tomorrow, it is a therapy specifically for people with BPD. I have not looked into that either (I ordered books for both from amazon, but started reading one and stopped). Like I said I am just confused right now. They are just going to change again the diagnosis, how am I supposed to know what I am suppose to do? I had to go into the hospital this past week and the people there all said that there was no way I was bipolar, that I had symptoms but that all my symptoms fit into BPD.

Saidee,

I too was originally Dx with BP and now a PDoc at Emergency Mental Health Clinic doesn't think that I am BP but that I am BPD. This site is as a lot of info on BPD. I think that you would benefit from reading and gaining an understanding of this illness. I believe the more you know the better you can be at handle the illness. Good luck with DBT. Let me know how it goes because I too am going to be starting soon...

I love my DBT, and CBT!! It's great. It took me a while to believe it, but I've been doing it for almost a year now. Congrats to you. You can have BPD, and BP. Sometimes they go hand in hand.

I went to my new therapist today and we just got to know each other. She did not jump right into the DBT (I have a little homework, reading). But she was not scary and she actually seems to care. So She is booked until the 15th but I have some reading and I can get a hold of her and I have the PDoc (dummy me I just realized what PDoc meant when I was writing this) appt. So maybe I will just get the rest from here.
Thanks for this!
