Hello All,
Gonna vent a little. I got a call back from a position I applied for. So the guy tells me that my resume is very impressive, but his wife runs the show and has decided she did not want to hire anyone. He goes on to tell me he will hold on to my resume in case he needed help in the future. He then goes on to say " I may have some other things to do around here...like raking leaves". I have a college degree and the position I was applying for had nothing even remotely to do with maintenance. I am not a proud person when it comes to work, but REALLY, raking leaves!!! You gotta be kidding me, I am not a 12-year-old. I did though realize that if this is a way to possibly get my foot in the door, I told him to give me a call! LOL

Might be me but in this day and age, I think your attitude of "get my foot in the door" isn't a bad thing. I have a lot of friends who are doing things they would have NEVER dreamed of as college graduate. If you're young and you're willing to do anything to get your foot in the door, it isn't a bad thing to do ANYTHING! If it doesn't lead to anything after a few months of hard, committed work, then move on. Seriously, these are hard times for young people and you have to show that you are committed and interested in doing what is needed to make an impression. I'm not a depression child, but I remember what my parents said to me, "Do the work and you will be rewarded." Not something many of us are familiar with. Many of the students I work with tell me, "No way am I flippin' bugers at Micky D's!" The world has changed.

Hope you find something you seek!
Thanks for this!

There are all kinds of really, really strange people out there. And they may not even be mentally ill!

Too funny! I loved the way he said "Whatta ya' gonna do?" while talking smack about his wife not wanting to hire anybody. My only thought was why the hell did you run an ad in the newpaper then? Talk about Duh! LOL

Thanks,
