....I was insanely impulsive up till about the age of 36. I basically wore myself out, and was lucky to get that far.
these days...4 years later, I still have very damaging impulsive behaviours if I am not careful...only every so often I have enough vitality to finance my very expensive mental adventures.
sort of feels a bit dull...but theres not much I can do about it...
gettin' older...gettin' a bit more tired I spose'..

Ugh. Yes. Some days I cringe because of it.

I am impulsive also, but sort of in a different way. I constantly start projects I never end up finishing! I have a house full of un-finished paintings, a hard drive of books with only the first chapter written, countless calendars with only a month's worth of stuff penciled in, and a running "bucket list" so long and random you'd think 13 different people contributed to its making!
Thanks for this!

....making abrupt decisions with virtually involuntary forceful enthusiasm.
thats my definition of impulsiveness and I also call it the "crashlanding" feature of my life which is more just about me than any dis-order if I go by the diagnosis?....
The formal bpd criterea only gives a few examples...like spending, driving like a madman/woman, binge eating.
But what about where all that comes from?...it's impulsive thinking. Gotta do somethin' full on...and gotta do it now!....surely?
there has been nothing stable about my life because of it.

...crashing out of relationships and landing in another
...crashing out of friendships and landing without friends
...crashing out of one job and landing in another job
...crashing out of a place I live and landing in another place
...crashing out of an addiction and landing in another one
...crashing out of study and landing in aimlessness
...crashing out of money and landing with none
...crashing out of being a good citizen and landing in trouble
...crashing out of being well and landing really sick

sorry...another HUGE list...theres probly more?

Total shopaholic! Can't go in a store without buying something eventhogh my cards are maxes out, I can't pay them, I'm on a limited income and barely scrape by each month but the. Impulsivity in me overides the rational. I don't know how to stop!!!!!

Just yesterday I passed a nice 'farm' truck and went strait to my mother begging her to lend me the money so I could buy it for my boyfriend. Thank goodness she said NO! LOL Over the years I've invested in at least 6 different 'work from home' scams, Amway, Real Estate ventures, got accepted to Nursing School (didn't go), went to school to be a Paralegal (finally finished something although I'm not working as one), bought a $2,000 vacuum (sold it a few months later for $200 just to make the payment on it!!), started a 'reborn' business' only to invest in all the supplies and give up on it 2 months later.... and so on...

When does it end????

also I color my hair at least twice a month and ALWAYS a drasticly different color. Oh and I have 7 tattoos and only one has any meaning.. AND new clothes (a size too small for motivation to lose weight) is a must.. yeah I filed Bankruptcy due to buying a house I lived in for less than a month with my second husband that I only knew for 3 weeks and get rid of $15,000 worth of credit card debt.... WOW this sounds worse and worse the more I think about it....

Hi, im new having trouble starting my own thread so i just decided to start posting anyway.

I was diagnosed as having bpd this time last year. Im incrediably impulsive, especially with money. Ill spend and spend and have gone without food for a few weeks because ive bought stuff i neither need nor want and haven't any money left over. It even extends to things like de-cluttering. I must not hang on to anything for longer than a few months - oh the waste! i just get the urge to throw things away, even if there needed. I have got better though and now just give to charity or family/friends. The worst thing is when you get into trouble with the law. There was one incident last year (nothing overly serious, i never went to court or anything) that still makes me feel so ashamed. I think most people just aren't convinced though - the amount of times ive been labelled as simply selfish, irresponsible, crazy...the list goes on and on. If only they knew!
