So I've asked to schedule an appointment tomorrow with a therapist, I am in total fright mood. I don't want to see her, I'm scared she'll say something or she won't like me..should I still see her? I'm in between freaking screwing her over or seeing her, but I really need some help but then again I don't feel like I need it..thoughts, anyone? sorry for the confusion but that's what's going on right now..

You should probably see this through. It sounds like you have nothing to lose, and it might even help.

Yeah I would go, I remember my very first appointment and I was thinking of backing out and what if she couldn't help etc.. It was the best decision I ever made in going.

Not been to therapy before or a doc?

Nope, funny thing is that I tend to live in denial and therapists in general, freak me out. The thought of them learning EVERYTHING about me is mind boggling..

I can understand how you feel about them learning everything about you. There are some things that I am so ashamed of, I have not told anyone.
Even so, I do see a therapist (T) and, after years of searching, I finally have a good one. I hope you go to your appointment and you have a fabulous therapist. I like going to my therapist. I want someone to know who I am and what matters to me. I have spent my life largely unheard and invalidated, so having a T listen feels good, even if she is paid to listen. She has not been shocked by anything I have told her so far and I have told this T more than I told any of the others. She also has been very accepting of me and my concerns and very gentle when she sometimes needs to tell me she thinks I am making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Well said, MDDBPDPTSD. When I first started therapy, what most struck me was that I wasn't judged for the things I told her, things I was very ashamed of. I expected judgment, and for her to tell me what I did wrong, and I got acceptance and validation instead.

Ok, what can also happen is an asteroid could hit the earth and an earthquake is possible. Surely you can come up with a few other things to worry about, lol. What you're doing is projecting so just stop (unless you're a better fortune teller than I am). Someone explaind FEAR like this: "false evidence appearing real". You'll be just fine, I promise you!

I don't know if I agree wholly with that. I mean fear is not necessarily always based on false evidence is it? Taken out of context it would really be hard to make that generalization about fear. So if a grizzly bear is running toward me and I'm afraid, that's fear too, but it's definitely not based on false evidence, that FARKING BEAR IS REAL!

I have that fear, too.
In general, not just therapists. Just being terrified of being once again told in so many words, "You are hopeless. Get away." yeah. I too am struggling to deal with that. thanks, Carol
