I've always thought that 'Climbing up the Walls' by Radiohead was fitting (the voice of the illness)

Possible trigger ..maybe

Thanks for this!

Just wanted to add this to the list. This is definitely, in my opinion, a trigger song. The lyrics are all about SI. The video has the lyrics. The album this song is on (which is their self titled album) spoke volumes to me. But I think those of us that have struggled with SI can relate.

Another 80's song. The 80's was when I was having my initial bouts with BPD though I didn't realize it at the time so there was a lot of songs I related to. This is more of the let's cry and feel miserable songs, but I always felt like I was the one he was singing to. Billy Joel's "An Innocent Man".

Another much older one, came out the same year I was born but it was my theme song as a young teenager. Didn't understand why at the time.
"I am a Rock" - Simon and Garfunkel.

I can totally relate to "I Am a Rock." Which reminds me of another song from the 70s, "Don't Cry Out Loud" by Melissa Manchester.
Thanks for this!

I've been listening to a new artist and I found her version of "Vincent/starry starry night" soothing but more sad than it already was...

I have a few I hope you guys can enjoy, I cannot give you the YouTube link but I can give you the artist and title:

1. Right Where It Belongs - Nine Inch Nails (VERY Deep and melancholy)
2. I'm in here - Sia (Takes about feeling alone)
3. How Does It Feel - Avril Lavigne (Little oldie but talks about being different)
4. Beautiful - Bethany Dillon (Speaks of wanting to be beautiful)
5. Only - Nine Inch Nails

Thanks for the song ideas !

people who are depressed tends to be artistic since they have more emotions than most people.. what kind of songs do you guys listen to make you feel better when ur depressed or having mood swings?

When I'm trying to shift moods I listen to this.
It tends to jumble my feelings and let a new one begin
Florence and the machines - shake it

You've got this new head filled up with smoke
I've got my veins all tangled close
To the jukebox bars you frequent
The safest place to hide
A long night spent with your most obvious weakness
You start shaking at the thought you are everything I want
'Cause you are everything I'm not

And we lay, we lay together just not
Too close, too close (How close is close enough?)
We lay, we lay together just not
Too close, too close

I just wanna break you down so badly
Well I trip over everything you say
I just wanna break you down so badly
In the worst way

My inarticulate store bought hangover hobby kit
It talks, it says, "You, oh, you are so cool."
"Scissor shaped across the bed, you are red, violent red."
You hollow out my hungry eyes
You hollow out my hungry eyes

And we lay, we lay together just not
Too close, too close (How close is close enough?)
We lay, we lay together just not
Too close, too close

I just wanna break you down so badly
Well I trip over everything you say
Well I just wanna break you down so badly
In the worst way

I just wanna break you down so badly
Well I trip over everything you say
I just wanna break you down so badly
In the worst way (worst way)

I'm gonna make damn sure that you can't ever leave
No, you won't ever get too far from me
You won't ever get too far from me
I'll make damn sure that you can't ever leave
No, you won't ever get too far from me
You won't ever get too far from me
You won't ever get too far from me (ever get too far)
You won't ever get too far...

I just wanna break you down so badly
Well I trip over everything you say
Well I just wanna break you down so badly
In the worst way (worst way)

I'm gonna make damn sure
I just wanna break you down so badly
I just wanna break you down so badly (damn sure)
In the worst way (worst way)

"Studying Stones"

I am out here studying stones
Trying to learn to be less alive
Using all of my will
To keep very still
Still even on the inside
I've cut all of the pertinent wires
So my eyes can't make that connection
I am holding my breath
I am feigning my death
When I'm looking in your direction

'Course numb is an old hat
Old as my oldest memories
See that one's my mother
And that one's my father
And that one in the hat, that's me
It's a skill I'd hoped to abandon
When I got out on the open road
But any more pent up emotion
And I think I'm gonna explode

There's never been an endeavor so strange
As trying to slow the blood in my veins
To keep my face blank
As a stone that just sank
Until not a ripple remains
I am high above the tree line
Sitting cross legged on the ground
When all of the forbidden fruit has fallen and rotted
That's when I'm gonna come down

'Course numb is an old hat
Old as my oldest memories
See that one's my mother
And that one's my father
And that one in the hat, that's me
It's a skill I'd hoped to abandon
When I got out on the open road
But any more pent up emotion
And I think I'm gonna explode
