Thought I'd properly say hi, instead of lurking as I usually do.

I nearly OD'ed in Feb, almost cooked my kidneys and liver, after a fortnight in hospital, I was set free, and came home. A week or so later, I got the discharge summary, and on it, was a previous medical history (this is a hospital I've been to ONCE, to detox from benzos) said BPD, and the current stuff backed it up.

I'm now seeing a psychaitrist as well as my psychologist.

I've read about borderline and well, yea, it's me.

Now I just need to try to find out the best ways of managing this.

I suffer major depression, generalised anxiety disorder, mild agrophobia, have trouble making/keeping friends, have NO motivation, NO energy, am an addict (benzos, pain pills and booze) and am having HUGE marital troubles right now, however it is not altogether just my fault.

Anyone similar and got some advice on dealing with all this?? I have the usual self harm and suicidal tendencies with all this jazz too. :/

x
B

I also have Major Depression and mild Agoraphobia, as well as trouble making friends and no motivation. I'm not really sure what to suggest. I'm on medication (low dose of Paxil) which has helped my anxiety a lot. And I'd just continue to see your psychologist. I've also found that having a hobby and distracting yourself can help a bit... Hope things get better for you. I'm sorry I don't have anything more to offer in terms of advice.

Also, for BPD, I don't know from experience, but I've heard that DBT is helpful.

Hi littlebitlost… I share some of your issues. I'm reaching out from the bottom of the slippery slope to give a hug

You sound just like me...except for the marital troubles; I'm not married. I've always wondered how other folks with BPD navigate the relationship waters when they have trouble making/keeping friends. I mean it, I've always been genuinely curious about that. I have so much trouble in the friend department that I can't imagine dating anyone let alone having a relationship with them.

Anyway. I don't know that I have advice for you except that you've come to the right place. Keep hanging around PC. There are some great people around here and this is a good place to post and get feedback (even though we don't always have feedback to give, it's a good place just to vent or chat).

As far as what nevergoodenough said, yes, I have heard that DBT is great. I have only gone to DBT group twice and had to drop out because I unfortunately cannot afford the insurance copay, so my therapist and I do a kind of modified DBT (nothing like the real thing) when I see her twice a month. I really should be going to see her more often, as twice a month is woefully inadequate for trying to treat BPD, but it's all I can do.

Anyway, welcome to PC.

Welcome to the forum, it always hard getting a diagnosis, but you can use this to help yourself, are you being considered for DBT? I found it helpful for my BPD, i hope you find the support you need..
