does anyone else feel almost panicky before heading off to work? what has worked for you.

It almost feels as if my daily responsibilities get in the way of something.

it's pretty typical to get paranoid about your posts. Especially related to bpd. you'll post something and get no response fast enough and become convinced either everyone hates you or you just said something so completely stupid or out of place that no one wants to respond.

It's early in the day for the most part.. and it typically picks up later in the day.. give it some time, and don't worry too much about it.

it's easy for me to go into crisis mode regarding these things. if I feel that coming on... is there any coping skills that you know about that?

shoot man I wish. the only reason I didn't originally post anything is b/c I really don't know. I distract myself from things if I can but truthfully if I am already in panic, anxiety or paranoid mode it's too late already.

There are breathing methods to help calm yourself. If I remember correctly, it's breath in through your nose to the count of 10, then breath slowly out your nose to the count of 10, repeat 10 times. This used to help me when I had panic attacks. It takes some practice. Hope it helps.

Also, don't get paraniod about your posts. We are who we are. Your posts will be you and will help either you or someone else, even if you are just ranting. Sometimes we need that and this is the place for it.

true. i've never had the breathing techniques do anything for me but I know they help tons of people. Good suggestion.

Constantly...and it's very, very bad. It's why I'm not around much these days.

The important thing with the breathing is not the breathing. It's the thinking. When you're breathing, put your entire concentration on your breath. Get your mind away from the obsessive thoughts if even for those few seconds. I'm not saying it's easy, it can be downright hard to do, but it does help. You are temporarily getting your mind away from the thoughts that are causing the panic.

I get anxiety before work... didn't even make it in today... haven't even left the house - got a friend to drive my son to school and he took bus home.

I don't know how to fix it. I suppose I just need to not work some days, I'll have to make it up at some point for the money... So I will talk myself through it, tell myself I will be ok, that once I get to work it might be good and get myself distracted, and get done the things that are stressing me out.

Paranoia about the boards, yes big time. Sometimes I mess up and post something angry, then a mod has to talk to me & I cry for 2 hours... Almost deleted my account today. Strong impulsive urge still, but I'm trying to stay it out. Again, talking myself through it, like I will probably feel less devastated later tonight or tomorrow...and I must need & get something from the support here at PC so maybe I should not make too hasty a decision.

I work from home now as it got to the point where the suffering and anxiety I faced going to work (when I actually managed to get there) was unbearable!

Maybe you could try meditating or something before you head out the door. Or maybe listen to some music...do a little exercise even? Maybe a little run around the block first thing would help you get rid of that anxiety tension?

All the best

Every day, just some days are worse then others. We have a gym at work and as long as I am not overly stressed out or anxious I stop at our gym before work and that's my coping tool. But I just hate every one at work and hate having to put on a fake personality so I can keep my job. Once in awhile I slip and it's almost worth it just to see the expressions on their faces lol.

I suspect some thing at work bothers you. For me it's every one that works there.
