I know that the idea of a Borderline chat has been attempted a few times before, but this would be a little different. I checked out the link for the "Chat Group Leader" and found that it was put up by DocJohn. It would be an official chat, with a set weekly time, on the calendar, and might be pretty cool if ppl were still interested in having something like that. Here's the rub though, you have to commit to DocJohn to host it weekly for at least 6 months. I was thinking of contacting him to volunteer to do that, but didn't want to "step" per se on anyone else's toes. If someone else would like to volunteer to do this, by all means, but please let me know. If not, also let me know, and I will move forward. Thanks all.

I'm the one who, with Stratocaster, held the unofficial chat on Saturdays or Sundays. The biggest problem was that is was very difficult to find a time that most people could come and my crazy work schedule made me where I couldn't commit to anything either. It worked out well for a little while.

I cannot host it for the reasons stated above but I'd be willing to try to come. I have severe social phobia about entering a chat environment where I don't know most of the people and it was primarily "us" that shouldn't be a problem.

I was thinking the same thing...I actually talked to Doc and he arranged a time with John25 for us to meet...just need to come up with chat topics.

I came up with a day and a time Thursday 5pm PST....

So what kind of chat topics does one wanna discuss?

I'm not sure, tbh. I thought it would be nice to discuss things relevant to BPD. Whether that be BPD in the news, dealing with stigma, splitting, whatever ppl would need to discuss. Something like the threads, but in real time.

Just my thoughts and really haven't thought that far ahead, but I liked the idea, and enjoyed the time when I visited the campfire (?). (I think that's what it was called. Sorry, pls don't take offense to my memory.)

Good luck with the chatroom! Hope it goes well for all. I have to opt out of this. Can't say that I'd be very useful to a group on bpd anyway...

I'll have to opt out too. I can't get on chat.

Hey! My device is sufficient for my needs!
Although it's hard to support that statement when it starts having connection problems... *wacks device against hand*

I would have absolutely no interest in such as this. I'd probably ended up pissing everybody off! You go for it.

To be honest, I wouldn't want to talk just about BPD issues. I obsess over such issues easily and in my current frame of mind it would do much more harm than good. I'd just like to use it as a "get together" with people that I kinda-sorta know through the forums since I'm too "chicken" to face a group I don't know.

LOL I doubt it. but for me, a chatroom if I ever go is for light banter and fun. That's just me, nothing wrong with the bpd or other disorder chats... I just like to keep it on the forums for serious stuff anymore.

I completely agree with Maranara and S4. I feel like talking about mental illness is for my sessions with my pdoc and T, and if I do it too much on here, I feel like it starts to consume my life. If I were to join in on a chat (which I rarely do on here because I don't usually have great experiences in chat), then I would tend to avoid talking about BPD. I'd rather keep things light. I don't want my mental illness to start to be all I talk about.

Looking at it like that, yeah it could become too much! I guess the forum here is where we can discuss stuff. Or maybe at random we could choose a topic to discuss here on the forum and leave chat for nicer stuff?
