My therapist, my family and I are pretty sure I have bpd. My therapist knows a lot about dbt and she is teaching me a lot of stuff. I'm very happy that I have better coping skills and I'm getting the help I need. How does my pdoc give me the diagnosis? Does he make me do tests? I recently did a test for my autism, ADHD, and my IQ which wasn't bad. A neuropsychologist gave me those tests so I don't know what my pdoc would do.

I really really have my doubts any one is ever sure u have BPD. I read a piece by professionals that examine the differences between bipolar and bpd, and how so many professionals are fooled. Indeed there are some out spoken critics who still claim there is no such thing as bpd. Granted they are the minority in the profession but they do present a fierce argument! Statistically speaking a significant number of bipolars are actually bpd, and a significant number of bpd are actually bipolar and when a pdoc can't really decide guess what? they diagnose u with both lol.
Here's my story and I'm sticking to it. ABout 20 years ago I was diagnosed with major depression which soon was upgraded to bipolar until recently with the recent popularity of bpd I became bpd. While I certainly do fit most of the criteria and enough to qualify for sure, I lack self harm and I am not needy or clingy. In fact I depart from bpd with some aspd traits. Yet I am bpd lol. As I've said in other threads here. Take what they give u and work with it, but don't place too much weight in it as it is only professional guess.

You need to explore autism spectrum disorder in depth. This may be the cause of your apparent BPD traits. We do have some similarities like trouble with emotion regulation and relationships.

I'll look more into it, but I have noticed a change from when I was a child. I still have temper tantrums, but now I have aggression issues along with other troubling causes for concern. Do you recommend any good links for autism? I'm rather embarrassed to go to an autism outreach facility since I feel like I will be discriminated.

Over the years my traits have changed. At 20 i was majorly needy and clingy. Not so much anymore (40) in fact i like to be alone. I feel like I fake empathy with many, yet I saw a tree get cut down and couldnt stop crying. My heart broke. I rage easily, but only with those I am vulnerable to - the ones closest to me.
doctor says bpd - but I was also told that 20 years ago, by a diff doctor also, before it became so popular. This Doctor i see now (psych) also says he sees cyclothymia in me which many doctors think is on the bipolar spectrum - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclothymia -- it seems to fit well. If moods occur with no seeming trigger, they are often seen as bipolar - Mood Disorder If these mood changes occur rapidly with a trigger, they are often seen as bpd. - Personality Disorder K well, at least this is what I was told and I am sure everyone else was told something different, haha. I also have General Anxiety , which leads to constant worry and depression. Probably due to being over sensitive - another bpd trait. Dealing with oversensitivity causes lots of bpd'ers to shut right off.. as protection.. so yeah... uh... as you see, we all have so many different things going on and still get these similar classifications.

Sorry, I don't know of any websites. I got my information from my psychiatrist and research papers. You should discuss autism with the clinician that diagnosed you (if possible).
