I have been experiencing really intense mood swings lately- like swinging from one to the next and all that movement of feelings has me worn thin. My patience is gone with pretty much everyone. Right now I want to curl up in a ball and die, I feel so worthless. Earlier I was feeling awesome. I'm on the verge of enraged at the moment. Does anyone know how to better cope with these? I think part of the problem is I haven't been as vigilant at doing my DBT as I should be. One of the exercises is really difficult for me so it's been discouraging at times. I just want control back, I was starting to exert it and now it's so frustrating because I feel like I'm losing that.

I'm sorry you're feeling this way. :/ I wish I could give you good advice on how to control your emotions but I'm horrible at it myself. I try and tell myself that it'll pass and all that but that doesn't change how intensely painful they are.
I hope you're feeling a little better now, you are not worthless! ![]()

What's helped me a lot with my mood swings is zoloft and xanax prn. I was once diagnosed with bipolar 1 of all things and put on lithium which did nothing for me. I may have a much lighter version because I respond better to AD, benzos, and anti-psychotics. The result has been amazing for me. I now only experience a baseline to moderately elevated but able to work. Also my delusions are way down too! I still get anxious and irritable but much fewer. Occasionally I still have a meltdown or serious anxiety attack but again fewer. Currently I am on my 5th day in a row of a moderate elevated mood with no disturbances! A few minutes of irrationality here and there, some anger here and there but mostly in the norm and nothing too freaky! before this combo, I was taking Wellbutrin only and while no depression, I was a emotional wreck. It was not until I added zoloft to the mix I started feeling better. Good luck to you!
I almost forgot, my paranoia is also way down too!

Here's the thing about trazodone. I can take up to 200mg and NEVER fall asleep. It just makes me tired and I yawn all nite as I stay awake. What I found that does help me sleep and stay asleep is a combination trazodone and benzos. The benzos help me fall asleep, the trazondone does help me stay asleep. I know this because I found that benzos along tho they help me fall asleep I still wake up 3-4 times! But with trazodone I stay asleep! I take 100mg of trazodone nightly. And benzos when needed. I try to stretch them out! The trazodone even helps me a little the next part of the day too but no more hang over effect after I got use to it. They tried mood stabilizers on me and they did minimum help. What really tipped the scales for me was Zoloft! But caution, Zoloft could induce mania if your bipolar 1. Since I have a much milder version of it I can take AD with no worries. Of all of them I found Zoloft to work the best for me but I feel it starting to wear off so I may need to go up to 100mg soon. Never be afraid to speak up to your pdoc, some times they do listen
