Hey again. I forgot to ask for any tips or pointers for public occasions. For example Easter dinner my family and i went to a friends for dinner there was too many people and got anxious and felt like a full blow melt down or anxiety attack was coming. I had to put my headphones in and draw to distract and block out the noise. I works but it attracts unwanted attention and questions. I really didn't want to say don't worry it's just my BPD acting up. Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I try to go with a plan I can use in case I have trouble. Prepare ahead of time. If people ask, you can say you're not feeling well or what ever. You don't have to give personal details or long winded explanations. I avoid going to functions that have people there that trigger me, i.e. one of my brothers. I focus more on caring for myself and not worrying what other people thing.

Thank you for the reply making a plan sounds like a great idea. And with the triggering people thing, i really wanted to go for the big dinner the only thing is if there is more than three people no matter who they are its a major trigger which sucks because i rarely get to go to functions cuz it keeps me home. I can't even visit my aunt because her family of 6 is too much

I would trap myself in the bathroom because its my only calm place for me to be at least I can me in there for awhile until someone sits down to stink up the joint, then I wash my hands and get the hell out of there.

I pretend like I cannot hear anyone and said I am a little deaf could they speak up or pretend me know no English, until someone foils my plan and tries to speak a different language to me. Just say my hemorrhoids are acting up then they will leave you alone.

Don't put on the headphones. I dod the same with my phone and I've learned that dealing with the anxiety is better than coming off as rude.
