I don't really get to get out very often due to work and such so going to see a therapist isn't really easy or doable at this point in my life but I do want to start the ball rolling so to say treatment wise with some self help stuff. Just wondering what you all found helpful, like work books, books, websites etc. I really want to try and get myself under control and try to rebuild a relationship with my family and parents.

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, in addition to the dummies book, I've also loved the following 2 books:
1 - The Buddha and the borderline by Kiera Van Gelder
2 - Get me out of here: My recovery from BPD by Rachel Reiland

I wouldn't call these books self-help, but they are great books to read for borderlines.

For self-help, I'd say ... find a way to love yourself

I just posted some of my favourite bpd related books in my last post. Hadn't seen this one yet, have a look.

I would say reading the DBT books and having your own journal and setting yourself tasks and challenges from the book is a good way to start, i found this really useful before I started therapy.

It's kind of hard to recognise your own symptoms and apply the practices at first but keep going. It will take a lot of self exploration and determination to do it yourself because we (as people not borderlines) will have a lot of self biases and can deny our faults when they are faced with change but if you keep going you can get past that.
