I feel so much better today. It's like a lightbulb figuratively "clicked on" in my head. I feel so much more grateful for the things that I have, and know my situation could be so, so, so much worse. It's like my dad said when I talked to him yesterday... it's all about perspective. When I feel so badly, I need to learn to look at things in a different light. It's extremely hard (like 10,000x harder than it would be for a non-BPD person), but it CAN be done.
For those of you struggling out there today, just know that you are loved. Even though I don't know any of you personally, I still love you. You guys are amazing, strong people who have been through so much and I admire you all. BPD is NOT an easy thing to live with, but it IS possible to live a fulfilling life even through the chaos. Now to find a free/low-cost therapist and DBT group for myself. I think a refresher on the skills needed would be extremely beneficial to me... even though I'm feeling better and trying to live in the moment now, I do know that it won't last forever. (((HUGS))) to all. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hey Whispers,
I agree with what you said about perspective. I've recently learned the importance of reviewing what I have and what I haven't got - and sometimes even comparing it to others around the world in order to see the grander picture beyond my own self diminishing thought processes. I find it extremely helpful. Obviously when we are in the midst of an all out emotional wave - we cannot hope to do this to calm ourselves down - but I get what you mean. I find this perspective checking to be most helpful in those daily - painful moments of our BPD lives - which make up the most of our time spent on earth (unfortunately) - when we get stuck in our heads with negative thoughts that feast on our soul and make for a terrible brew of potentially disastrous and negative events... Urrrrrr. Life. I wish we didn't have to deal with things the way we do, but I know it could be far worse than it is. Thank you for reminding me of this fact. ![]() Thanks, HD7970ghz
