I feel so much better today. It's like a lightbulb figuratively "clicked on" in my head. I feel so much more grateful for the things that I have, and know my situation could be so, so, so much worse. It's like my dad said when I talked to him yesterday... it's all about perspective. When I feel so badly, I need to learn to look at things in a different light. It's extremely hard (like 10,000x harder than it would be for a non-BPD person), but it CAN be done.

For those of you struggling out there today, just know that you are loved. Even though I don't know any of you personally, I still love you. You guys are amazing, strong people who have been through so much and I admire you all. BPD is NOT an easy thing to live with, but it IS possible to live a fulfilling life even through the chaos.

Now to find a free/low-cost therapist and DBT group for myself. I think a refresher on the skills needed would be extremely beneficial to me... even though I'm feeling better and trying to live in the moment now, I do know that it won't last forever.

(((HUGS))) to all.

I am glad you were able to get a new perspective on things. there is always a positive side to everything if you look hard enough. good luck on finding a counselor and group. take care.

Hey Whispers,

I agree with what you said about perspective. I've recently learned the importance of reviewing what I have and what I haven't got - and sometimes even comparing it to others around the world in order to see the grander picture beyond my own self diminishing thought processes. I find it extremely helpful. Obviously when we are in the midst of an all out emotional wave - we cannot hope to do this to calm ourselves down - but I get what you mean.

I find this perspective checking to be most helpful in those daily - painful moments of our BPD lives - which make up the most of our time spent on earth (unfortunately) - when we get stuck in our heads with negative thoughts that feast on our soul and make for a terrible brew of potentially disastrous and negative events...

Urrrrrr. Life.

I wish we didn't have to deal with things the way we do, but I know it could be far worse than it is. Thank you for reminding me of this fact.

Thanks,
HD7970ghz

So glad to know that you are feeling grateful and happy. It's very good to share that here as well as our down times. We do all need to know that BPD is hard to live with and that we will likely always have up and down times.
