Is anyone else doing/has done DBT? I was doing ok for two months and then had my first group skills training this week and I don't know if I can handle it.

It is ok you may feel frightened but in DBT group you will find many supportive people. They will help you.

Hang in there! This kind of therapy can prove quite useful in the long run. Don't let a temporary set back stop you from achieving your long term goal.

It just takes lots of practice...you can do it!
![]() I am taking DBT group for the 3rd time right now, and I am always learning new and helpful techniques to help me deal with my emotions. It is well-worth the time and effort that I have put into it. ![]()

I keep hearing that from heaps of people, but did anyone else find the training condescending/patronising? It feels like they're talking to me like I'm a child or an idiot. I hope I can deal with it but I just don't know

I have been in DBT for about a year. It has overall been helpful but at times I just wanted to quit. Try to stay with it. Talk to your therapist about how scared you are. I haven't used my therapist enough and am now sorry about that. ![]() |
