Don't think I'm going to be able to afford therapy for a while. Was looking at CBT and DBT Books online but figured this was a good place for advice. If you could tell me the name of the book and link it and tell me why you thought it was helpful, that would be great. Thanks.

There are a lot of books there. Most look like they are resources for therapists. Do you have any experience with this one? It has worksheets but I wonder if it definitely needs guidance of therapy.

I'm looking for exercises. Not an explanation or training manual. Not knocking your suggestion - just wondering which one you think would meet my needs.

I am just now familiarizing myself with DBT. This link is for "Handbook in DBT Group". It has worksheets, 94 pages, and it's free. I was reading through it today, some exercises may need a little guidance, but, it doesn't cost anything and it seems helpful...at least for me.

Thanks technigirl. I'm definitely going to check that site. Looks like A LOT of info.

I just snagged the address off of my address bar. See if cutting and pasting works.

http://www.bipolarsjuk.se/pdf/Handbo...BT%20Group.pdf

I'll add the link again as well.

http://www.bipolarsjuk.se/pdf/Handbo...BT%20Group.pdf

PS...Noticing they both look the same after posting. The saga continues...

I got it!!! I guess it was just because my phone couldn't support the size of the file or something.

Thanks again. I'm trying to work my way through this. Definitely see myself in this. It's so frustrating! I don't know why everything has to be so difficult.

My pleasure!

I feel ya! It's overwhelming. I have a terrible memory, and the thought of remembering all of that, is...well...overwhelming!
Thanks for this!

go to amazon and search for The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Workbook. it has a green cover and is by Matthew McKay and Jeffrey C Wood. it should be $11. (I'm too new to post a link lol).

this book is p amazing imo. it has the four basic principles of DBT then goes in to more advanced practices then it combines the principles together in the last chapter. it has worksheets and explains everything really well. i don't want to sound dramatic but i'm dramatic so
Possible trigger:
i'm not perfectly healthy but this book has had a huge influence on my life. i still go back and reread it to refresh the concepts for myself. seriously recommended. i hope you find books that help you like this helped me!
Thanks for this!

Hi Nana!

Welcome to Psych Central! I'm rather new in these parts as well, and I am still trying to figure out how to use the features on this forum! I'm also noticing that when you change the Forum appearance certain functions function differently. Hmmmm...
Ha!!!
