Does anyone here have rsd/crps like I do? I also have fibromyalgia and peripheral neuropathy. The combination can make a person very miserable especially when I get a flare going. I used to be able to get meds for the pain but I had to quit working for other health reasons so I have no insurance and am too young for medicare. That means no doctors and no meds. I try all sorts of things to lessen the pain and most of the time I just live with it as best I can. I'm up for suggestions if anyone has some.

I honestly would go with the Dr's & get patient assistance for the meds where they are covered completely.....no need to suffer. I know there are Dr's there for people with no insurance even though I'm sure we don't think they are the greatest...they are better than nothing

My husband has had RSD since 1985. They implanted a morphine pump in 2001 which has cut his pain by 50-70% and he no longer has to take any oral pain meds. Since the morphine goes directly to the nervous system rather than having to go through his whole body like oral morphine, his dose is only a fraction of what he had to take orally and he has no side effects. He would not be able to function without his pump.

Remember to stay as mobile as you possible can. The less you do, the more problems with atrophy will set in. I know. Easier said than done, but immobility is the enemy with RSD. Never use ice on the affected limb; ice will make the RSD worse.
Thanks for this!

How old are you? Have your worked and paid into the Social Security system for 10 years? If so, then you're NOT too old for Medicare. If you file for Disability, and get approved, you WILL get a Medicare!

If your health is such that you cannot work, then you should file for Disability. Get the forms from your local Social Security office, and fill them out and send them in to get the ball rolling. It will take awhile, so the sooner you do it, the better off you'll be.

Best of luck and God bless. Hugs, Lee

I also have crps. I do have medication but its not very helpful. I agree wiith the other posters that you should try to find a free clinic in your area. Some medications can be obtained for free or low cost with a dr's prescrition. Best of luck!
