Side effects from my meds include tremors and muscle twitches. The twitching occurs throughout my body and I have at least one twitch per second, all day, and have been struggling with the constant muscle pain it's causing. I try to get a massage every two weeks (professional or otherwise), and that helps keep the knots from accumulating as badly, but lately it's been pretty bad.

I am so sorry you are suffering with these symptoms. When I had/have symptoms like these, my doc has prescribed gabapentin (neurontin). It is helpful and takes the pain away from the tensed muscles, at least for me it did.
Other things that may help are flexeril, which is a muscle relaxer and celebrex. I have fibro and have found relief with both as well as the gabapentin. I hope you find something to help you very soon! Take good care. ![]() |

I've been taking flexeril when it gets really bad, and it definitely helps, but offers only short term pain relief.

That's true, flexeril doesn't last long term and it can have a sedating affect as well. I only use it at night and then most times I only take a half pill because it gives me that hung over feeling in the morning which I hate!
I'm sorry I don't have any other ideas for you. ![]() ![]() |

Ickydog, I have fibro which causes all over pain. I can't take any kind of pain med and still function. I found a product called BaTherapy at Wal-Mart that I add to a hot bath it eases those muscle aches and spasms.

Pretty sure cannabis oil is illegal here. Do you rub it on the muscles or what?

I haven't tried any of this yet, but a friend of mine has and swears by it. I just ordered a free sample to see if it helps, and it's legal in the US. Its called HempEaze. It's derived from the cannabis ROOT which has no THC in it (active ingredient in weed) and several other herbs known to be healing. It is $3.50 for a sample. Might be snake oil, but for three dollars I think it's worth a try? http://tierrasolfarm.com/ If it works, it is kind of expensive at $24 per 2 oz, but if it does what it says, it will be worth it. If you tel me your state I can look up for you if it's possible to buy cannabis oil there. Update: It is not legal in Massachusetts, but it looks like it is on the November ballot, so it could be legalized very soon. Last edited by Anonymous32511; Sep 02, 2012 at 10:07 PM. |

Biofreeze, which can be gotten from chiropractors, might be helpful. It's sort of like an ice pack. It contains herbs, etc. and can be gotten as a gel or a roll-on. I use it on my knee and sometimes on my back.
