So I read this article about low thyroid being implicated in the muscle aches, anxiety, depression, fatigue, etc. that are part of the fibromyalgia and myofacial pain package....

So I'm off to an endocronologist to check out my thryoid function.

Just wondering if anyone's fibro/myofacial pain has improved when addressing the low thyroid issue....and whether low thyroid was an issue at all....

My internist did check for low thyroid but I hear that docs normally check the TSH levels and what needs to be looked into is the levels of Free T3 and Free T4.

If anyone's interested, here's where I picked up some info. I don't know the folks who run the site...so won't put my faith in them....but y'never know...they may be on to something.... at www.stopthethyroidmadness dot com.

I had bloodwork on my thyroid: TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. They came out normal.

However, I have read a bit about how you can have an underactive thyroid and have it not show on blood work. I know I have alot of symptoms of low thyroid: fatigue, dry skin, weight gain, depression, and a low body temperature (normally 96.1) - but they say I'm normal!

Make sure you receive a copy of the reports, so that YOU have the numbers. I once had 2 doctors tell me there was nothing wrong with my potassium levels, yet I was fainting! Another doctor, a friend who was with me during one such episode, called to find out my actual numbers and decided they were low enough to warrant my taking Vitamin K (potassium.) The fainting ended. I learned from that to always decide on my own, with the report numbers. We don't "all" fall within the norms for problem solving. myofacial pain/fibromyalgia.....and low thyroid

That's true Sky.. my blood pressure dipped for a period of time because I was actually using my Cpac machine.. I experienced a "whosing" feeling all the time and kept asking my doctor.. shouldn't I be lowering my med for that.. my BP was very low.. but she said.. well when you pass out... and I'll let you know when..

I relalize now that I quit using the Cpac because I hated the "whosing" feeling.. so am going to try again.. but will lower my med when my BP lowers so I can be comfortable......

Very true! With the number of doctors I have been seeing lately I have been getting all test results from all of them. It helps to be able to share with other doctors too - especially blood work so you don't have to repeat it all.

I had two rounds of blood work and they now put the normal ranges on the results and highlight anything that falls out of normal (of course I still googled them all to make sure they had the ranges right!).
