I don't know what is going on, I should keep a log but that is so hard to do!! My house has fallen by the wayside in messydom, and I am the motley fool to the king and his pack rat wizard!! This headache is lasting too long and it is effecting everything I do...today and yesterday were high stress days and my body has for most intents and purposes has decided to fit every keystroke...but i must keep going...i am on a new quest in the land of crochet...i must be strong, my eye must work enough to read the pattern...i need to rest a lot or my arms feel like i have slept on them and they have fallen off...my legs feel like i am dragging huge chains tethering me to the pole that traverses time and space and is a str8 shot to hell...the piercing pain in my head feels as if an ice pick is playing on my neurons...plucking them like a banjo in a ho-down band...

being the jester i need tricks or help or any suggestions for helpppppppppppppppp in easing the pain...ice works but only 1/2 hour at a time...not complaining, i just want more...if not i may have to go to e.r. for o2 and see what they can do....anyway, i am done ranting since my arms wanting to stop...huggles (ooo lots of huggles) melanie

I wish you could get some relief. I have been wondering about how people in the old days, no not mine, the 1800"s, 1700/s dealt with chronic and severe pain. I am sick of being a bump on a log. I am sick of no ambition and three times as sick of the pain waking me. The pain scares me. My doc is an arse and my husband agreed after appoint with him yesterday. I am in so much pain yet tylenol will have to do because I am not going to ask anyone for anything. I only have a few more methadone and am even considering sending to canada for meds as I am desperate. I have thought of calling my pain clinic and begging them to see me monthly. I just don't know what to do anymore. My doc is an arrogant pe-----. He could care less. I am doing P.T., starting massage over and will be joining the gym for regular swimming. Maybe learn somethings for sciatic. Also making appoint for accupunture. I hate depending on people.

(((wisewoman))) You bring up a good point: fear. Often the fear of pain contributes to it's intensity. The mind is a powerful thing, and no less powerful when it comes to physical pain.

Unresolved anger, dread of increased pain, and failure to truly manage the pain all contribute to more intense pain, unfortunately.

Meditation and calming, tai chi and yoga, mindfulness... these all are good weapons in the war against pain.

Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back, like cave man days...they used to have this method called trepanning...and some days i am so tempted lol, I mean if they could drill holes in their head and go on about business...oo it is the process of drilling a hole in the head.....there was one skull found that had over 13 holes and they showed signs of healing so the person survived. Anthropologists believe the holes were made to relieve pressure for anything under the sun...got cramps? drill a hole...got a broken arm? drill a hole...got a pain in the arse? drill a hole (i hear that only worked half the time, the other half, the mate went on a 'hunting trip') hehe, that was bad...anyway I dunno how they dealt with things in 1800's but it must have been brutal...then again the age to which we live has doubled and therefore we have more time to develop new and painful things, maybe our bodies werent built for medical science to prolong it to...just a thought...melanie

Loved the sites from Perna, I have been doing a lot but also learned lots. I guess all the dried asian ginger I eat is good for more then hot flashes. I have been taking a bunch of herbs and tinctures. I think I will go get some peppermint oil, spearmint oil, cinnamon oil etc and start having "tea".
