How about one of those med dispensers that lets you set a timer to go off for each dose that's due?

Or the old standby - tie a string around your finger?

Put your meds in a prominent place (as long as they can stand the light and temperature in that area and it's safe from kids)?

Can things like Yahoo Calendar send you an e-mail reminder?

yes pill box, that's if you have forgotten them again.
I take my pills at dinner time so I remember to take them with food.

I'm married so I've got an idea for those that live in a home with others. We've made this a silly little thing we do, but we do it anyway. I say loudly "I'M TAKING MY PILL NOW!" My husband replies "YOU'RE TAKING YOUR PILL NOW!"

(Then we both laugh)

So, if I can't remember taking my medicine - I ask him and he'll be able to tell me if I did.

It works for us Anybody got some tricks on how to remember meds?

I take mine before I go to bed. The bottles are next to the light switch on my bedside lamp.

Place you meds at the last place you will be before you go to bed and the first place you will go to in the morning.

For myself I always check the computer before I go to bed and before I begin my day. So I have my medication sitting in sight so that I dont forget to take them. It is was the ONLY way I remembered to take them. I do that with anything that I have to remember to take with me to an appointment as well. I put it in a pile on my computer desk with my meds, purse, list for the day, watch, cell phone, ect. I have so much going on in my head that it is the only way I can remember things.

I hope this helps. Anybody got some tricks on how to remember meds?

we're supposed to remember to take our meds? who knew?

Actually, I carry my pain pills with me... and have extra in the car and by the bed. Usually I don't take them as per the hour... my body tells me (sometimes I realize I'm really not feeling well, and then realize I'm way over time on taking my med. ) The only other med is to try and help me sleep (ambien) and the only way I can tell myself I took that is to turn off the lamp by the bed after I take it. Otherwise, I wouldn't remember that either!

Did you find something that works for you? I have a pill holder that you can set to "go off" and also a watch.. (but I don't hear well so they don't work for me even my phone is on vibrate.)

I have large pill tray that holds my meds for a week. (Sun - Sat) Then, I have 'routine' lists that I follow. If for some reason my routine gets thwarted, then I can easily see in my pill tray whether or not I have taken the alloted pills for the time of day they are to be taken.

I found if I set up, and follow my routines, and keep a little book with me all day where I note 'what I've done, and eaten, etc.' that things go way easier, and even on bad health days, I can feel good becasue at least I have done 'something'.

Taking my meds is on my 'lists' and unless I complete the important things on my list (like taking my meds), I don't get rewards... Like my AM routine... Make bed, shower, dress completely, take meds, feed dog, etc... unless I do THOSE things, no computer time (reward) for me.

Works for me, and by consistancy on taking my meds at the same times everyday, I have better 'effectiveness' of my meds.

Not only remembering the pills I need to take now, but I made notes of every AD/anti-anxiety med I have ever taken & the side effects I had from them. I had a pdoc in the med hospital this year insist that I take AD's again...my own pdoc warned him about how sensitive I am...but he insisted that I try it while he could monitor me. I had the same side effects as before when I got home & checked...that will teach me to ever listen to an outside pdoc again. Even my GP hates this guy but he is the only one willing to practice at the Glendale/Burbank hospitals without a psych ward.

Right now, I keep my meds right by where I sleep...I usually take them just before I am ready to go to sleep so I can have relief from my nightmares....The desire to be free from those dreams are great incentive to remember the meds. I only take them during the day if my anxiety gets too bad to deal with & then I am usually where they are & realize that I am not doing good so take one....not on an specified dose...just as I need it.

Hey GG,

Long time no see woman!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Listen get a watch with an alarm. Put your meds in a box with sections and refill it each night. When the alarm goes off, you know exactly what to take. It solves so many problems.

There are also med boxes that have alarms built in. A lot of ppl use them when they have multiple meds to take at different times.

I hope this helps.

Hugs,

Jan
