not sure what is going on with me lately. I can hardly walk from one end of my house to the other without severe pain to where I can hardly move my right leg. Even standing in the shower is so terribly painful. I mostly have baths but tonight decided to shower. ouchy! even getting out of the tub I have to turn over and get on hands and knees to get out. I think my back is just getting worse. I have not had a pain flare last this long.

it has been gradually getting worse over the last month. I am on lortab for pain and it doesn't help. so I lay down or sit down. whatever is closer to me at the time. at times I could use my walker if I had it nearby.

I know most doctors say activity helps a bad back better than rest,,, but for me I need ice packs and rest... not just hours but days. It isn't easy, but at least I don't have anyone in the house expecting anything of me (I have a dog and bunny show though pain flare?and a bladder. pain flare? )

Have you tried meditation?
(Sky asks, wondering how many people would show up for a meditation chat.)

Hi bebop,
You could go to most drug stores and get a shower chair to use. It helps me all the time for my back pain. I hope this helps.
I will be praying you feel better soon.

a new symptom has shown its ugly self. the back side of my left leg went numb tonight. it slowly goes around to the front near my knee. normally the numb spots come but go pretty fast but this time it seems to be staying. errrrrrrrrr

That sounds like the sciatic nerve bebop... that would be from your low back/ sacro-iliac. Keep your hamstrings stretched... and use ice or heat on your low back and see if it releases?

yes, bebop, it sounds like nerve pain ... sciatic ... can you ask your Dr. to refer you to an orthopedic and then get some phys. therapy. it can help.

also, can you ask your dr. to change your pain med to something else, like norco, as it might help having less tylenol. then you can take extra tylenol in between. if he doesn't, your orthopedic should prescribe something appropriate for this severe pain.

good luck to you ... and heat helps as well as not walking around much till this is properly attended to. it's debilitating, the pain. some people need crutches, but a walker is good to use.

sorry you are suffering.

sending comforting thoughts -
night

errrrrrrrrrrr I hate not being able to clean my house!!!!!!!! can't even get the dishwasher unloaded! I feel like now I need handrails all over my house! errrrrrrr I feel so dang useless anymore. I am going to have to break down I guess and maybe face surgery if that is even an option. I am so afraid of the surgery though. everyone I know that has had back surgery came out worse than before.
