I've been reading a lot lately about hormonal imbalances, thyroid, adrenal, and sex hormones... What I've been reading is saying that there is a connection between hormonal imbalances and fibromyalgia...
Anyone else heard anything about this... From what I've read from some authors, they discovered hormonal imbalances in some of their patients with this illness and once their hormones were balances the fibro issue was resolved... I've been reading Dr. Vliet, Screaming to be Heard and It's my ovaries stupid... Any thoughts?? TJ ![]()

Fibromyalgia is under the umbrella of the Arthritis Foundation.
Here's a link to about.com connecting hormones and fibromyalgia http://arthritis.about.com/cs/fms/a/fmscause_2.htm I think natural hormones are the way to go, if you can...but that article talks about low cortisol levels.... I don't have fibromyalgia, but do have chronic pain and stress disorders. My cortisol levels are quite low. However, I recently read that, though cortisol levels might be below "normal" in pain patients, they are still "too high" for some people who are hypersensitive to cortisol. Can't recall where I was reading though. ![]() Feel better soon.

Yes I read about the connect in Dr. Vliet's Screaming to be Heard. I'm fascinated by the connection between hormones and other illnesses. I am suffering from adrenal fatigue right now, as well as low female hormones, iron defiiciency, and feel drained every day. The problem is finding physicians that treat adenals and thyroid, another deficiency. Most doctors don't believe in adrenal fatigue unless it is Addisons or Cushings Disease....heavy sigh! I'm more of a mess than I knew...now on to getting treated... Definitely going with natural hormones!!! TJ ![]() ![]()

Skee another good study is on B vitamins and what happens when we are lacking them! Depression, pain... wow.
One very fast way to see if you lack B vitamins (my own POV) is to drink an UNFILTERED beer. Chock full of B vitamins. (The regular filtered beers (not near beers) do have some B vitamins, but you have to drink alot of them ![]() Good nutrition is SO VERY IMPORTANT and many doctors don't keep track for you...the MD might not even check nutrition, and of course the psychiatrist rarely considers anything but drugs. Many hospitals in USA have a full time nutritionist. IT's well worth the small fee to see one. If you do, be very honest with him/her so they can find you where you are and send you the right way. They help with hormone issues too, btw... naturally through foodstuffs. ![]() EPO (evening primrose oil) does wonders! As does blue or black cohosh (depending on your age.) I'm not a medical doctor though, so make sure nothing you want to try interferes with your MDs plans.

I'll probably eventually have to see an alternative doctor to treat everything,, but I do have an appointment with an Endo on Tuesday and have my fingers and toes crossed that she will infact listen to what I have to say and partner with me on an effective treatment plan for me! Thanks for comments and support.... TJ ![]()
