Ok, so I have been out for a few years now and I still feel as though I am there. I am having a hard time expressing myself, communication, and most of all even though I am not, I always feel that I'm alone. I just dont think that people understand me. The question is now how to live with this....

many of us have been out for a long time but mentally/emotionally return part of the combat ptsd package... takes awhile to feel stateside bit longer to feel safe and sane our wars are different our feelings are nearly the same words may be old-fashioned...not what you might use be patient with old timers, yeah, different words same feelings "how to live with this..." another four letter word...T-I-M-E counseling helps so does contact with your brothers and sisters (fellow warriors) it's a good combination civilians don't understand no matter how much they love you long as they see you trying to take care of yourself? it will be more peaceful when ya get used to holding everything inside it's a given it's gonna take time to let any of it out protects you, protects them reason why it's important to lean on those who have been to hell and back posting here is a good first step thank you for reaching out keep posting even if all you say is FI we know we know what you are saying In Peace

Yes, thanks for your service.
It's great that we are a free country because of our brave military! Now, I fully understand you, each step of the way. The road is a long haul. It takes an expert therapist (but they have some good ones with the military) and it's because of the research the military did that we have any treatment at all! The best thing, at this very moment, is to realize it isn't you it's the PTSD. Don't take the garbage that PTSD makes you feel or makes happen or whatever don't take that garbage as YOU. It isn't you, it's the disorder! You may blame the disorder all you want it isn't a cop out, it's the truth. You aren't passing the buck you're placing the blame where it belongs. When PTSD happens, it's because the brain chemicals have changed. It's a physical brain change they can see on MRIs and PETs. ![]() Ticks me off sometimes. There is better ... on down the road. There is. It's worth fighting for. PTSD is an anxiety disorder. ANXIETY is what takes your life away so severely. Even when it seems there's no reason to be feeling or acting the way you do. It's the PTSD. ![]() Hang tough.
