bowdhi...hi
it's nice to meet you
sorry that you have reason to be here, but you have folks here who understand what you are going through

life with PTSD has it's ups and downs
at some point there will be more ups than downs
I hope for you that it comes soon

share when you are ready, just to let us know how you are doing
we care
I care

In Peace

Welcome.
Yes, that's all we can do...
what we MUST do...
is live lives WITH PTSD.

The only consolation I have is this:

of all the psychiatric disorders in the book...

we have the one that is --without dissension--
caused by someone or something else
than ourselves!

Thank you everyone for your kindness. So, I was in the USMC as a front line trauma medic. Geez, the words dont come so easy for me to describe what I have seen. For now my goals are for me to come to grips with my experiences and most of all, talk about them, cause instead I shut the memories away and hold it inside, and its starting to take its toll. In the meantime, I am trying to make changes in my life and thats the hardest thing I have ever done. I look forward to speaking and sharing with all of you.
Thank you again for the welcome...

welcome bowd.....one thing that I find has helped many combat soldiers is to not shut out the loved ones. when they asked what is bothering you they really do want to know. they really care enough to listen. don't hold it in. sharing is so healing. you don't have to give every detail but some of the memories. test the waters with them.

I was married to a vietnam vet for a long time. I am here for you anytime and I have pretty tough skin. I have been a sounding board for many vets over the yrs.

Once a Marine, Always A Marine
My first husband is one as are my two blood brothers
all are deceased...

You are alive albeit with some bumps in your road of healing
Yes, please do keep posting when ready...let us know how you are doing and what we can do to help.

Jme, but bottling=anguish
felt like it was damned if I did, damned if I didn't
so...
I did not and was damned for awhile
not by others but by myself
it's not worth keeping anything inside
we pay a very high price when we do

Little bit of advice from this lady...
don't tackle everything at once
it's all tangled up of course
but try and focus on your immediate need(s)
baby steps, crawling if necessary
no benefit to squaring the shoulders and marching into it
stand down

In Peace

p.s. is your war the current ones?
www.IAVA.org is a dedicated to the Iraq and Afghanistan Vets...most resources are found on the left side
great support and solid resources to help you
length of stateside time is not important
You Are Important..your experiences, fears, anger, confusion
understood there
understood here
double the support methinks

In Peace
