Hi everyone,
I'm probably doing something wrong again, but lately when i click on that number beside chat, i just get up stupid answers that I know aren't true, i mean sometimes it says I'm in there or ppl I know aren't online at the time
are there.
Refreshing doesn't help, nor does logging out & then logging back in. I'm too scared to go into chat if I don't know who is there, most of the time.
Am I the only one having this problem or is it happenning to everyone ???? Number beside chat probs

Hmm, that's odd. The status of who's in chat is only updated once per minute, so it's not always going to be 100% accurate, but I've never run into the problems you've described. It may be that your browser is caching that little window, but there may be a way for me to make sure your browser doesn't do that...

Zorah, I've had problems with the chat # just in the last few days, myself. Sometimes it won't even open... I do know I had more trouble last night after checking into the gallery, and had to clear my cache after that (which DocJohn has told us about.)
Also, you might find a number and not see any names in the rooms. That happens when the ppl IN chat are in private rooms... another feature here at PC. Once you enter a chat room that has noone in it (safe for you) you can click on the eye icon at the bottom of the room, and see who is in which room, even though you might not be able to go into them.
Not all ppl who are in chat will show up "online" as some ppl's browser for the forums close once they enter the chat rooms. Depends upon which browser I use as to whether I will show up as online AND in chat.

Still no improvement in chat room window. Getting same answer all the time, from about 6 weeks ago I think. It doesn't matter what number is up, I still get the same 2 people in chat in the little window.

Your web browser may be set to check its cache for the forum index page, which is sort of odd as it should never do that. You can change that in IE by going to the menu:

Tools > Internet Options > Temporary Internet Settings > Settings

Change the "Check for new versions of stored pages:" to "Every visit to the page"

and click "OK", then "OK" again and see if that helps anything.

Hi Doc,
I think that last suggestion has worked, at least I'm finally getting a different window.
Thanks for your care
