I can try. First, did you remember to "SUBMIT" the change, down at the bottom of the page...

IF you did that, then it would have refreshed that same page, but with the new avatar showing on the top of the page.

If there was a problem, it would have told you at the top of that page that it wasn't uploaded (downloaded??)

Did you get a message at all, or did you see your new avatar?

J

Oh ok. The one that shows up in chat is the one that is on your POSTS... that is your avatar picture. (There are two different pic options here) You need to change the one for your posts. You changed the one for your profile pic, not the avatar.

Your avatar shows in chat, and on posts.
Your profile pic shows on your profile page.

My understanding is that if the image you're uploading isn't within specs...
Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 85 by 85 pixels or 29.3 KB (whichever is smaller).
... the system may go through some of the steps of uploading the file without actually installing it. Would that explain what's happening for you?

Her pic specs are thus:
5.32 KB (5,446 bytes)
110px × 150px

Both within specs from my understanding
Quote:
The maximum size of your custom image is 400 by 400 pixels or 976.6 KB (whichever is smaller).

I found my "85 x 85" spec at the bottom of the Edit Avatar page. Where did you find your "400 by 400"?

Is the avatar limit.

My reference came from guidelines (for signatures, alas)
Quote:
For signatures:

Links in your signature are okay, as long as they are to your personal site, a charity, a helpful resource or article you'd like others to know about, a project or non-profit effort. Generally, no self-promotional links are allowed in one's signature; exceptions, however, may be made on a case by case basis.
Pictures in signatures should be no bigger than 30 Kb in size AND 400 x 150 pixels in dimension (60,000 pixels in total dimension size). Your signature picture can be of different dimensions than 400px x 150px, as long as its total size is less than 60,000 pixels.
http://forums.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=3643

Either way, her pic is still under the size limit, at 5.32 kb, right?

It's that she's changing the profile pic and that isn't the one that shows in the chat rooms

Carinheart, the one that is here in the post, under your name on the left, is the pic that shows in the chat room. You would have to change THAT picture to the other to have it show in the chat room.

It is showing now, I decided to clear my cookies and cache and close out and come back and now it's there. Either that worked or someone here helped!

thanks everyone!
