I uploaded 2 photos to the gallery, the 3rd I was trying to upload, even though showing done, simply never happened - after many attempts - but that is not why I am posting.

I right-clicked on one of my uploaded pic and went to properties (something I always do) and PC vanished instantly as did my internet connection. I re-connected, logged in again, tried again and the same happened. I tried one more time with the same result!

I find that quite strange - why would right-clicking and going to properties shut me down completely?

It sounds like your computer hon, in its attempting to bring up the properties window?

I just went and clicked on your last updated photo...right-clicked for properties and the separate window came up.

You might want to try that at other sites, etc., to see if it's a setting or something with your computer.

I would try to shut down first, then try it again before I did anything though.

I wish I knew more. Now this is just weird ...

There was no attempt to bring up the properties window - it simply shut me down but I will try this at some other sites - thanks for the suggestion. I haven't changed any settings etc. on my computer though, so it still seems so strange.

This is very intriguing indeed. I tried it at another website and yup - I was disconnected immediately.

I haven't changed a single setting on my PC - I would love to hear thoughts on why this might be happening!

Anti-virus runs daily and hasn't picked anything up. I'm going to check it out again in a bit!

My computer must have PMS!

Maybe too many cookies and/or windows open? Have you done "housecleaning" lately :-) Sounds like memory was miserable in some way?

I don't know what it could have been. I do housecleaning almost daily. Not even crumbs in my cookie jar.

But you are right, sounds like memory, or something was miserable!

It was just so strange!

Do you defrag your disk on a regular basis?

There's several cookie jars; do you use Explorer's "Internet Options" buttons to clean or do it manually? I know sometimes my University's software hates me and the techs put me through several paces to realign myself to them/their software :-)

Yes, Petunia, I defrag regularly. I like squeaky clean!

Perna, I use an overall internet sweeper as well as using the Internet Options. I do clear out my cookie jar right here at PC too. Somebody warned me a while ago (it might have been you??) that I might in fact be doing too much cleaning!

Well, it works now, that's the main point? :-) I belong to too many places so cleaning out my cookies too often is just a pain as I have to remember all my passwords, etc. Just make sure you don't clean your "temp" files too often as some of those your system "needs" and uses/cleans in its own time.

Deleting cookies doesn't really help the user too much unless they wander a whole lot and haven't cleaned them for a "long" time; for sites like PC where one has to register, all the cookie information/settings is contained in the registration info so when you log in, it just gives you a new cookie with your same info. So, it doesn't necessarily make sense to keep deleting and getting new cookies constantly. It's not really "cleaning" because the cookies are needed to wander around your usual sites and just make things take longer for the user if they're "missing". Running Ad-Aware or some program like that every couple days is a more useful route, gets rid of the "clingy" stuff :-) that may not be friendly but doesn't disturb what you "need" like cookies.

Yes, whatever happened - I have had no more problems.

Thanks for the other info - which you explained logically for me as I don't speak "computer" and don't always understand all these thingies.

I will heed your advice!
