We're investigating the server outage today that resulted in taking our community services down for approximately 30 minutes today. We'll let you know what we find out.

I'm still getting times when I can't connect. I'm using Tapatalk and it just doesn't show any new posts, or connect to the pc servers. (Except for letting me access this thread).

Just wanted to pop in and mention that pages on the forums take about 5 second to load now. It doesn't sound slow, but waiting for the pages to load for those few extra seconds is noticeable.

I hope everything is alright.

We're going to upgrade the forum software itself either this weekend or next, which should help speed things up a bit. This process will take some time (1-2 hours), during which the forums will again be inaccessible. We'll post a forum-wide notice when we have a more definitive upgrade window scheduled. Thanks for your patience!

do you know if the upgrade will affect the layout?

in the past when I've been on sites and they've upgraded it, their' usually change to the layout- even if it's small

The forum software upgrade has been scheduled for tomorrow morning starting around 7:00 am ET. We envision this process will take 1-2 hours and hope to be back online around 9:00 am ET. We will update our twitter feed @psychcentral if we find the process is taking longer or what-not.

The forums and chat rooms will be unavailable during this scheduled maintenance break.

Thank you for your patience while we do this.

I tried to mark all forums read on the main page, and it said the security token was invalid.

I just tried it again and get the same thing.

site is working for me, was able to log in ok, read the boards and make a reply ok, but did notice on a few of the pages at the very top I get this...

PHP Warning: Illegal string offset 'type' in ..../includes/class_postbit.php(294) : eval()'d code on line 205

PHP Warning: Illegal string offset 'type' in ..../includes/class_postbit.php(294) : eval()'d code on line 205

it does not interfere with what I am doing on the site though, just shows up at the top of the page sometimes, not always consistent, there on this board, go to another board not there go back to the one where I saw it, not there go to another board its back again... just keeps popping up occasionally. Im assuming its just a loading problem

I clicked reply to post my response on a thread and got the "You must wait 15 seconds between replies" message. I swear I only clicked the reply button once. I went back and the reply posted, so there must have been some sort of double posting issue, but like I said, I only hit the reply button once.

EDIT: Seems to have been a one off thing. NVM

Please let me know specifically what URLs you were accessing and whether clearing your web browser's cache and cookies make this error go away...?

Thanks!

yes it is still happening, found the right board it is happening in. its in spirituality board and only this board/ thread, any time I click into the thread called In shadow - a modern odyssey

https://forums.psychcentral.com/sanc...n-odyssey.html

this is what I see at the very top of the page,

PHP Warning: Illegal string offset 'type' in ..../includes/class_postbit.php(294) : eval()'d code on line 205

(yes my computer and browsers have been cleaned, cleared, defragmented and virus scanned.)

I'm not having the problems listed others have mentioned above, so I believe my problem is with the new "upgrade" itself. (I access from an iphone (don't have a computer) if that is relevant to what is happening.) (Underlined one sentence descriptions of each issue for ease of review.)

The biggest issues noticed:

•Enormous first column is now devoted to telling me that I have posts in a given thread, how many, and when the last one was. Who cares? I already know who I am talking with, PLUS (assuming one has the setting to have it), a checkmake already indicates participation/subscription. Having an enormous first column is redundant and a creates big problem.

•Beyond the redundancy, here is the problem. It crushes the title of the thread --the most important element of any line into a ridiculously small space. Because the simple checkmark has been replaced with additional unnecessary wordiness, all you tend to get is one word of the title in the first line of the title line. It is now virtually like trying to read words stacked in a column instead of in a line (as is far easier to read). Title crushed into stacked column is hard to read

Any time I go to a new page, I am greeted by a gray screen. I need to scroll down 1 1/2 screen heights before I come to the actual text. Very annoying.

Needless to say, NOT a fan of the "upgrade". Maybe it is because I'm on a phone. Maybe it's because it's not the latest model (5c -- older, but not a relic). Maybe these aren't issues on an actual computer. I hope this isn't too harsh, but I do feel quite strongly about it.

Bottom line: The new layout is a disaster.

I have an older mini iPad and it's all fine now since the newest update.

I just checked the forum from my iPhone and I don’t have any of these issues. Do you have customization selected in your options? I don’t have any special settings in my personal view.

Uggg...now the forum pages are taking 8 seconds to load, twice as long as before. I am using Chrome on Windows 8. I'll try clearing my Cache and browser history again just in case that's what is causing the issue.

Also, I've notice a fair few members accidentally double posting since the forum upgrade. I noticed on my first post after the forum upgrade there was a notice to wait a few seconds between making posts, as if my reply was trying to post twice but the board caught it or something, and this was after only clicking the reply button one time.

Just FYI.

EDIT: Cleared both my browser history and my cache and though a second or two MIGHT have been shaved off the loading time, it's still taking at LEAST 5-7 seconds to load each page as I browse the forums. Granted, it might be due to traffic volume, and nothing to do with the server software or databases. If that IS the case I understand that nothing can be done about it save spending yet more money on increasing bandwidth, which is probably off the docket due to already having spent the allotted funds and resources available on the software upgrade and server move.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
