PC does a more-or-less annual, completely voluntary survey to see what members are thinking about various features and what can be improved. You can set your popup blocker to ignore it, I'm sure.

It got passed my pop up blocker today. Pop ups annoy me. I just closed it immediately; didn't realize it was a pc survey.

I responded and it turned into a thing about vitamins! Look at surveys and if they aren't "interesting" to you, just "X" out of them/close that window. Just because it is/is not from PC doesn't mean you have to answer them!

I asked DocJohn about this one and he assured me it is allowed.

But why does it pop-up despite having a pop-up blocker?

Twice tonight I have had a blank page pop up - it says ad-server (or something like that) right at the top but nothing actually happens!

These things are becoming a downright nuisence. I have just had one for "OpinionMart".

Ok, what DocJohn told me is this, that they are allowed to run as pop ups: "they help provide better information to our marketing team."

It's a nuisance I think I can bear (for a while anyway Survey? ) to help Psych Central and DocJohn bring us this great site! Survey?

I answered the OpinionMart one, thinking it might not hit me again now? Survey? yeah, right. Survey?

So what you are saying is the pop-ups are "attached" to the cookies used to uniquely identify us on this site, and they have the power to override our popup blockers because we allow the identification cookie from psychcentral?

Is there an opt out option? or are we just gonna have to put up with the unwanted targeted advertising?

I don't think they're attached to cookies; I had one for vitamins the other day; started to do it before it made it clear that it wanted me to named all the vitamins I'd ever heard of and I wasn't in the mood :-) If you don't want to answer it just close it. I feel it's like when my mouse is accidentally on a link and I get whisked off to an idiot aromatherapy school :-) or something.

IDK either if they are attached to cookies, that would be something to know. To me, THAT would be a great marketing tool that I would "fall" for... knowing that if I take the survey the first time it comes up, I won't have to take it again???? However, would that just slot me for the next one in queue and not give me a few days/weeks of break from the popups? Like I said, I don't know, but it is interesting. Survey?

Yeah, I dont get them either...but mainly because I have a popup blocker...but sometimes when my internet has a billion different tabs open, the "you've got PMs" popup will popup, but nothing else...

There's a poll in General. Please vote and if I find enough of the community wants it to go away, it will be removed.

Thanks,
DocJohn
