I just know this thread is going to be moved to 'Community Feedback' but I place this here as I feel it is relevant to be read by all - and that is the point I wish to make.

I think there are instances where, despite the subject matter of threads, their content may have more relevance in a more generalised forum. Oh yes to be sure there are many threads that are in fact better placed in a specific subject but there are times too when a thread is better elsewhere in a location where they deserve more traffic and consideration.

I throw out my own thread about Asking for Help as a prime example. I placed in within a more general forum as I felt it a subject more pertinent to that of Other Mental Health discussion. Frankly I am a little dismayed that it was moved and moved to an area where it likely wouldn't be seen. The intent is to be thought provoking which in turn then could lead people to the more specific forum subject.

Just my thoughts.
Thanks for this!

Hi, You should contact a mod and explain how you feel. Perhaps the person can explain why your post was moved.
Thanks for this!

i suspect mods are, or can be, swayed by member feedback... either from the OP (original poster) or from other forum 'frequent users'... at least i hope that is the case~

I agree with everyone else moving threads kind of falls under administrative issues so you may need to discuss this with them. usually there is a reason behind why they moved or removed threads. they will be able to explain what happened with your thread and why

Because the "Other Mental Health Discussion" forum is specifically meant for topics that don't fit into another forum, your topic will always be moved out of that forum if you choose to post it there if another forum is a better fit for the topic. This is in order to maintain the focus of that forum and keep it from being overwhelmed with dozens of new threads every day where a member feels it's appropriate to that forum.

We ask that people read the "Read this first" at the top of any forum you visit, as some forums have specific posting guidelines. For instance, in the forum posted, there's this:

https://forums.psychcentral.com/othe...%3D%3D%3D.html

In short, we have multiple forums for a reason, to help keep things organized. If everyone could just post to a single forum, that would quickly get out of hand with the number of posts and would negate the purpose of having multiple forums in the first place.

i do believe that the 'Other' and 'General' forums are used because of the number of visits they get. people who feel that the forum for their topic is rarely visited would naturally want to post there. isn't there some way that posters hoping for swift attention can get a place to post ? someplace where people with multiple experiences can check periodically, or daily, to respond to urgent requests for feedback ? something like: "Urgent Care"....

Interesting idea, Gus!

I see what you mean. On the one hand Liasons are doing their best to attend to unanswered threads in a fast paced environment. Sure, occassionally a post can fall through the cracks on any given day. On the other, what gets classified as urgent? Because in an emergency situation contacting a crisis team, line or ER is advisable.

I just checked the OPs history and responses from members was timely. Unfortunately, there wasn't lengthy discussion for whatever reason. And I'm not certain after being here for 5 years if it's where on the board the posts are located or if the busyness of members, etc? It could be topic? I'm really not sure, myself. It could be timing?

We're a topic-based community, and have been that way since day one. That's not going to change at this time.

We are not a place for "urgent care" and would never suggest that people come here looking for a quick answer to a health or mental health concern. If someone has an "urgent care" question or problem, they should contact their own healthcare or mental health care provider -- not ask an online forum.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
