I have just had my computer rebuilt (seeing as it was so sick) but the technician that did it hardly put anything back on that I needed (couldn't even get online to begin with as he 'forgot' to configure the modem 25-character 'product key' (code) to open Microsoft Word...). The thing is, now I can't open 'Microsoft Word at all...It needs a 25 character 'product key' which apparantly came with the disks (I got all 4 works disks as a set, problem is it was 6 yrs and 6 houses ago lol so I have lost the box with the code on it). Microsoft have found a code that should've worked but didn't. Does anyone here have any ideas on what I should do please? (I will look into 'open office' at some stage but really like word). I know I should really go back to where I got the computer done but I have had so many hassles and such a negative time with the guy there that I feel drained just at the thought of facing him again 25-character 'product key' (code) to open Microsoft Word...

I know that you don't want to do it, but I'd call the guy that rebuilt it. If it's an older version like 97 you can enter all 0's in the thing and it'll work (have a version of Home Essentials from WAY back).

ha, love it! It's a 2002 edition but since nothing else has worked and I really just cannot be bothered trying at the moment, I'll take the easy route and try this!! Thanks.

Did it work?

I actually prefer the older versions of Word. The Draw feature is much easier to use in the older ones. I can't stand the huge stupid box that they insert into the document for 2003 and have heard BADDDDD things about 2007

I'm away at the mo, so haven't tried yet. I might be away for a couple of weeks, but when I get home and get myself organised and try it i'll let you know 25-character 'product key' (code) to open Microsoft Word...

well, AAAAA, I tried and it DIDN'T work. Am still laughing about it though...must try it when other codes are asked for 25-character 'product key' (code) to open Microsoft Word.... So I guess that this week it will be a trip back to see the horrible man who rebuilt my computer and never reinstalled the programmes either properly or at all..
