I am new to both html and the web in general....I stumbled apon this site while looking for a 'weblog' to put on my site when I get it finished. The problem comes in that I have VERY limited knowlege of html and/or cgi.

I have read all the instructions in the downloaded files and have read and re-read every post on this forum, sadly..... I still don't get it....
I have a site layout almost finished (I'm a graphic artist by trade in the print industry) and would like to ad the weblog to an existing page similar to http://grohol.com/openjournal
I understand all the chmod and setting the variables. What I don't understand is how to call the weblog to my index.html file.... I have come to terms with the fact I must be misunderstanding something....
-am I suppose to put my index.html file in the http://mydomain.com/oj directory?
I'm just lost....
could someone come to my rescue here?

Yes, if you want OJ to manage your main homepage (your index.html), basically you simply edit the index file in the ojtemplates subdirectory. That's where OJ is pulling out the file it uses to create itself.

This file can look and be like anything you want, as long as you:

<ul>[*]Leave the HTML comments in it that OJ is looking for (variables such as TOPPER)[*]Ensure the file can be writeable by the Web server software (easiest to simply rename your existing index.html file while testing and allow OJ to build its own from the template, once you're done editing the template file to your satisfaction).[/list]
Hope this is of some help!
