Got triggered again tonight. While at the grocery store the clerk mentioned that a woman just got assaulted at the side of the building and that a man threw her clothes out of the car. The suspect had left but the clerk was afraid he would come back and assault her again. I told her I would go check on her. I went around the building and this 35 year woman had blood coming out of her nose and mouth, another citizen had gone to her aide and was with her. The suspect had returned to the scene but once he heard the police had been called he got gone. So the other citizen and I stayed with her until the police arrived. I couldn't leave them there in case he came back. We waited over an hour and a half. But her story sounded so much like the violence I witnessed from my Dad. Just brought up a lot of stuff. I don't understand why women stay with men that beat them.

Subjective units of distress. It's up to me to bring them down when I wake up by doing a progressive muscle relaxation exercise, kind of like you do at the end of a yoga routine.

Don't know what to say about your situation, it sounds like you live in a tough area.

What kind of internal work are you doing on yourself besides the DBT and the CBT? Do you have any kind of daily mindfulness or meditation practice?

Our area is nice . These people were on their way through this state heading to the coast when they start fighting in the car and end up in this parking lot so he could throw her out. She did say he was a convicted felon, made me feel better, not. I didn't even have a gun with me.

Can't stay focused long enough for meditation, soon as I close my eyes and try to get relaxed the slide show (past traumas)in my head starts speeding up. May be another reason I fight sleep. This week , as you know I am suppose to go fishing but that's not going to happen. Thought maybe instead I could get my archery stuff out and shoot in the back yard. I used to enjoy doing that also.

Please try to meditate. I believe that is the key to everything including DBT. There are many useful apps to help you: headspace, insight timer, happify are all apps I have used or use. I believe this is why you can not find peace. You can start with 2 min at a time. There's a wonderful man on YouTube named Jason Stephenson who has quick one minute meditations. You might want to look him up. I sincerely believe this is where your block is. The first module of DBT is on mindfulness. It is very important. In my modules we always started each new module with a review of mindfulness. My doctor has being doing daily mindfulness to treat my lightheadedness and emotional stress. I can't emphasize enough how important this is.
