Did someone roll up the welcome mat, and turn the lights out on the forum tonight? Sure is quiet here.

I go through spurts. Sometimes I check it often, other times I'm not on for days... I kinda wish that comment about everyone being suddenly cured was accurate. That would be nice...
Yesterday, we were car shopping ::shudders:: today and tomorrow I'm at work... actually, this week is 4 days of work :gulp!: because of the holiday and people's vacations. If I wasn't working in the back with the dogs 3 out of the 4 days, it would suck...
How are you doing today? Sorry people weren't around much yesterday...

Real dogs? I could handle working with animals as long as they were healthy. I have a cat with a tumor in her bladder and it's a constant care taking journey with her. She ambulates and does well most days, some days she just sleeps a lot, more than what a cat sleeps. But she's on anti anxiety meds to curb the urge to urinate, and antibiotics for the bleeding, which makes me wonder if they get yeast infections from so much antibiotic and what you could do about that.
Still stressed out about quitting DBT. I hate to not finish something, or not do something I told someone I would do. Just not me but then I don't think I could go through much more of it. I had reached my max of hiding the struggle. So now it feels like I'm back to hardly any help in getting through this.

It's ok about not finishing dbt. It's certainly not for everyone, and even the people who find success in it take a few rounds to get there... I think I've mentioned before that I've tried it about 7 times, and each time ended in being bored from the program because I was hospitalized too many times (except the last time. That time there wasn't enough attendance after the first week).

That sounds stressful with your kitty... Maybe you could try probiotics if you are worried about yeast infections? I use them with my animals because the dogs tend to get upset stomachs relatively often. So far, it seems to be helping. The old cat howls a lot less when he uses the litter box since I started them on it...

The animals I work with are healthy - it's a boarding kennel. They get bratty sometimes, especially when they stay for extended periods (one dog was there for a month, went home for a weekend, then came back for another week). I don't mind working with the dogs most of the time. I hate doing the customer service piece. It's in a wealthy town, and many of the owners live up top the "entitled, cheap, rich asshole" stereotype. One couple yelled at me for 30 minutes because I returned 5 biscuits with their obese dog after a 3-week stay... I would want the cookies back because they are expensive, but they insisted I was starving their dog to death yeah, I much prefer animals to people these days.

Will probiotics help with urinary bacteria growth though? I know it works in the bowel, which she may need that too. Where do you get yours? A vet? Or pet store?

I believe some have bacteria that are beneficial in other areas of the body (kinda like acidopholous helps with yeast infections... actually, there are some marketed for urinary health). I've gotten some online, but the latest batch was from petCo (convenience in the moment). Chewy.com has several to choose from. I've used Ark Naturals, but have since looked into something I can buy in larger quantities because I have 5 animals to give it to. The vet said most probiotics available are beneficial, and that he hasn't seen much difference in the ones you can get online vs the ones he sells. Generally, the higher the active bacteria specimen count in the probiotics, the more expensive it is. I've not found any additional benefit to the $80 ones over the $7 though. It might just be benefits I can't really see.

They also sell urinary tract health supplements. I have not tried those for my old cat yet because he's super picky about what he eats and they only come in treats.

Well I will have to have something in a powder or liquid, she has no teeth and I am not about to bird feed her I wonder if she would eat yogurt.....hmmmm. She's very picky about her food as well, and limited with no teeth. She likes baby food, so I may be able to get a powder in that. I will check with the vet and local pet store, GNC had something, I wil check with them also. Too bad can I can't share what I take. How many pets do you have?

I think GNC has a powder form of the probiotic. They definitely have a powder form of the multi-vitamin with probiotics in it. I had used that for a while, but then I had trouble finding it in stores (other than petsmart currently), so I skipped it... Gotta love picky kitties I kinda wish there was more documantation on the different types of probiotics and what the variances were between animals and people. I know one I found seemed to have mostly the same listed types of bacteria, but was marketed for pets... My only worry would be introducing bacteria that was harmless to humans but harmful to the animals.

We have 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 geckos, and 6 snakes... Oh, and an uncertain number of tiny frogs that were in my plants when I moved up north. I just put them into the gecko cages and hoped they were not eaten. I think I put 7-10 in the 2 cages. I know at least 2 males are still alive b/c I hear them calling at night after the misters go off.

I will talk with the Vet today and see what they say. From what I've read they don't suggest giving animals a human probiotic, not sure why, but why risk it.
I have 3 inside cats and one outside cat. My cats have no idea they are cats. All of them were strays. My you do have a lot of pets....btw the snakes and frogs......are all you...not for me

Got a few packets of probiotics from vet made by Purina. Going to see how she tolerates them and go from there.

Hi. How's it going?

I've been working (lots of vacations) & ... I don't even know. Yesterday I got caught up for several hours playing a computer game. I'm not totally sure how I played it for so long, but before I knew it, 6 hours had gone by o_O it's a totally stupid game too...

It's weird, I was just telling someone at work how nice it was that my insomnia had abated... oh well. It was a nice week of actual sleep.

Headed out camping this weekend. It'll be the first time in about a decade :gulp!: at least it's just for one night.

Wow, actual sleep? That's a biggy. Good for you! And camping too, wow, you are on a roll. I used to like to camp but with back issues and my desire to carry all the comforts of home it got to a place where it didn't happen anymore Have a wonderful time though. Nothing better than being outside.
