This was an interesting topic Open Eyes brought up, then that same day this video was put out by Kati Morton. So it was like a sign that we need to see this. For me it had several points identified in my own therapy issues that I really didn't know were issues. Does that make sense?

Is TRAUMA THERAPY possible if we DISSOCIATE?

There's a lot of fear in things we can't control. After all, if you can control it, then you can make it safe. There's also a lot of fear in the result of something since we almost never entirely control a result...

PS. How do you embed pictures in the text box?

On reply, go to advance at the bottom of the box, then you will see the attachment info at the bottom. Is that clear as mud LOL?

I hope you can too. Though there are some gifted counselors out there that would do just as well. Just have to find that needle in a haystack Keep looking.

So my T and I talked a little about this and she feels that therapy is possible with dissociation. We are starting the exposure therapy which requires me to record sessions. This will benefit me in that if I check out during the session I can play back the tape and see what I missed. Plus it's required in this type of therapy. Anyone else feel funny about hearing your own voice?

Hmmm, I have never thought about recording sessions. That would be interesting, especially since I only remember part of my last few sessions with mine. (Although one of those times, I know is because one of the littles came out to play with her dog. They did talk at the same time, though.) Might be worth asking about with my T.

P.s. I hate hearing my own voice, either in voicemails, or in other recordings. I've done some YouTube videos, and I hardly ever go back and watch them again. It's even difficult to edit them, so often they go up just as they are.

I had not thought of recording as an option either, until we started this exposure therapy. But it makes sense and as long as both parties are aware of it there should be no problem. You've done youtube videos? Doing what? You sing? That's cool.

I do sing, but I am not brave enough to put that on YouTube. Actually, mostly vlogging about DidllID and mental illness, and kinda using it like a journal. Sometime I find it easier to say it than write it, because I don't think about the words as much. I can talk faster than I can write. Especially now, since I've been having neuro issues, most likely from my car accident back in September. I've been losing some control (dropping stuff) in my dominant hand.

Oh I see. Sorry to hear about the Neuro issues. You are under medical care for that, right? I drop stuff with both hands but it's carpal tunnel surgery and now scar tissue, so it's like never having the surgery. Lesson learned. But who knows it may have gotten a lot worse if I hadn't had the surgery. I'm on the opposite side of the scale between talking and writing. I would much rather write than verbally talk to someone. Just my thang

I am seeing several docs atm... I have to talk to pop about the dropping stuff and have hi order a certain test, cuz the neurologist can get me in for the test faster than to see the doc. I see the neuro I'm March as it is... usually irl, I refer online, or texting, over verbal communication any day... sometime I can't even get myself to go to T, just cuz people.

Yes you need to get that checked out maybe have a nerve conduction test to see where the problem is. Nerve pain can be treated with medications but sometimes requires surgery to relieve the pressure off the nerve.

Ya, I'm hoping it's something that will just get better with time and exercises or something.

I hope that for you too, but do stay on course to get it checked out. Good luck!
