Do you and your T do anything fun in therapy? Or is it always gloom and doom? I don't even know if there's a such thing as something fun in therapy.
Maybe coloring, condition related crossword puzzle, or word scramble, any other suggestions? Tests to find out something about yourself that you didn't know?

Speaking of test...do you think the tests here on PC are accurate? I felt they were but curious how others feel about them. How about the sanity score?

Sometimes T and I will throw an angry bird piggy back and forth to help keep my mind in present. I find this fun sometimes. Other times he will say jokes or we will talk about sports or video games and something light.

Sometimes I find just talking about something light helps bring down the anxiety and then we refocus on the hard stuff or grounding if we still need to. I think it's good that it's not always super serious. T seems to know when to say something funny or light hearted and when to push for grounding.

I haven't done very many tests on PC but the few I did seemed like they were okay for the typical or more common symptoms.

Our T has mandala sheets and colors in her office, and also encourages us to bring anything that would help. Sometimes we will play games on the phone while we talk to her cuz it keeps us occupied so it doesn't seem as bad.

Well that's interesting, so you do sessions by phone sometimes? Maybe someone needs to invent some therapy games that can mix in with the session to be a little fun sometimes.

No, never done a phone session, actually.

Picture Americans eating dinner at a restuarant, but they are all looking at their phones instead of chatting.

That's us. She's still looking right at us, but we're playing on the phone and therefore avoiding eye contact which makes it easier to talk about some things.

Without the phone part, it's awkward to avoid eye contact while talking, for us, because of how we were raised and also having some hearing issues. If we don't hear/understand a response, we will ask her to repeat and then look at her (to read her lips while she speaks). But she's pretty good at speaking and enunciation, so that's not a big problem.

That would make the session a little easier. I hate eye contact

Interesting, are they condition themed card games or just regular card games? I was almost sure no one would post on this thread, I'm a little surprised.

Maybe this wouldn't work for our therapy, but it would be nice to have something different every now and then. We are doing tele-sessions and PE therapy. So boring, and drags your soul through the mud. It's suppose to be a good treatment for PTSD so I guess I should suck it up buttercup and just get through it, maybe have fun later You guys are lucky though to have that option.

I'm having a hard time imagining how this plays out. Do you have a partial session then some cards , or do you just take a break from the session and have day of fun things? What would a day playing cards in therapy look like?

The therapist that I work (once I get back to it) with doesn't do games or anything, but she is pretty laid back, always offers me tea or water. Of course in most of my sessions with her I have been in a very stressed out state and the main purpose was to talk that through. She's good at helping me de-stress.

Mine doesn't do anything fun either, but we do what we are suppose to do. Maybe in the long term something like this would be possible. We did take a break from the PE process one day and just talked , that was nice. Though stressful because I knew this would add on more time to the therapy.
