Emdr didn’t work for me because of the complexity of my ptsd. DBT did.

Well sure with complex EMDR there are so many trauma memories it is hard to clear them all. We hit enough to get my nervous system to calm down.

Actually it was because I had no childhood resources to build upon. The most supportive figure I could find in my childhood was the janitor at my elementary school and that wasn’t going to cut it. |

Obnoxious? Hmm. All I was doing was sharing my experience. I didn’t know you were only interested in hearing from people who experienced success with emdr? Perhaps I should reread your original post. I apologize! |

I appreciate all the responses regarding EMDR. I'm having trouble getting in touch with the practitioner.

Well don't be afraid of trying it. It might help. Key is making sure the practitioner is qualified. Ask her what the process is. Google EMDR and see what you can expect to happen. If you don't try you will never know for sure if it can help or not.

I scheduled an appointment for Feb 7. The therapist did acknowledge my concerns and suggested we meet to discuss the treatment as well as my concerns. He actually called me while I was leaving him a voice message. The fact that he took the time to chat & acknowledged my concerns is fanning my little flicker of hope....what's left of it!
My new psychiatrist has never treated anyone who is "treatment resistant" or anyone with "complex" PTSD, although she is familiar with both terms. Was only my 2nd visit w her and since I stopped all RX drugs a yr ago, she really doesn't want to see me. I explained to her I'd like to see a DR as my therapist is a social worker and the area in which I live currently has much higher demand than available providers. I'm driving 40 - 45 minutes one way as it is to get treatment. I've done 2 positive things for self today....and survived!!!!! |

There's this blood pressure med called Prazosin and I really want to try it out. Supposedly it helps with nightmares. Problem is I'm already on a blood pressure med for my elevated heart rate. I'm not sure if Prazosin helps with heart rate too. It's been hell lately since I'm back to having PTSD nightmares again. I basically stay up until I pass out. Even when I'm awake I'm also experiencing hallucinations all the ****ing time. Its been hell lately.

I've talked about it with my doctor today at my appointment... she asked if I needed spiritual guidance because I see demons and she thinks it's because I'm conflicted with my religious beliefs after telling her I was agnostic. That's what I get for having to go to a christian doctors office/hospital.

I do not know how I am going to make it through this busy work day. I feel overwhelming sadness and just do not want to leave the house. Yesterday I could not stop listening to Linkin Park songs and reading about Chesters suicide.

Severe panic attack escalated about 24 hrs ago and has been ongoing ever since. Person who offered me room in her house accused me of something which I emphatically denied. "Well you must have been the one who said something and here I thought you were trustworthy". It's not the first insensitive comment, but it is the last.
So, I'm moving back into my car. I have loaded most of my possessions, 1/2 of which have been taken to my storage unit. I haven't been able to work since leaving my job and the state in which I had lived for 22 years......in 2008. Am broke, broken hearted and see no hope....even my little flicker is gone. I wish I had found this site years ago before I got to now. Unfortunately, I will not have wifi access while living in my car. Fare thee well fellow members. |
