I often find myself not knowing even why I feel a certain way. All I know is I am either sad, mad, or happy and that the extent of it. Anyone else out there feel that way?

i think i know what you talking about because often i dont know how to explain my emotions and sometimes i also have false emotion like when i supposed to feel sad (like something that happened to me and normally people would feel so sad) i dont feel that way i just feel weird (idont know how to describe it)
so i have no answer for you but i can related ![]() ![]()

Yes, I often feel like that. It's usually when things are too chaotic around me, or when I haven't had enough time alone, to sort things out. My daughter and granddaughter live with me, and things aren't what I'd call "quiet" here.
![]() I've suffered from depression since I was a child and have been on medication for years. It's pretty well controlled, but many times I don't have a clue how I feel about anything. ![]() So you're not alone. I think this WORLD and the chaos in it makes people a little "numb" nowadays. Yes, but T has me doing an event/mood/thought chart So when I catch a thought, mood, or event that I'm confused why I write it down and try to fill out the rest of the columns from there. It really helps but I REALLY don't like the results I'm seeing. It's kinda like T's in my head.

Hi there. I am new to this forum, but thought I could put my two cents in here, as I often am very confused with my emotions.
I can be in a great mood one day, and the next day feel very low, sad or anxious and I cannot figure out why. For instance, I have been in great humour for the majority of the past two weeks. But yesterday and today? Not so much. And what I don't understand is nothing has happened in the past few days that I can pin point to make me feel low and anxious like I've been feeling. So yes, my own emotions confuse me a lot too! |

I kinda feel this the same way. Sometimes I'm happy and then this suddenly drop to get me sad/anxious/mad. Probably my siblings, family and problems are the main cause of these things...

I am constantly up and down and up and down-- for no good reason. I will think of something bad going on in life, ultimately making myself all depressed, but then out of nowhere I am so happy! Just happy happy me! Then reality comes back and I remember that I was just miserable and depressed because I was thinking about the bad and go right back to being depressed.
But other times I start feeling depressed out of the blue first, then start thinking of the bad things.. Then get hyper and goofy, or iratible, sometimes anxious, and other weird emotions that I can't really define with words. The emotions come for no reason a lot of times and I have no idea to deal with them as they come. So yes, to say the least they are confusing. |

Yes, my emotions are vague and poorly defined. I often will feel "good" or "bad" and then sometimes wonder why. I often need to go through the previous events of the day to see if something is happening. Others "read" me incorrectly, sometimes thinking that I am mad at them, when I am not.
I score high on the alexithymia scale, maybe you do too? |

Jackbus--I am constantly told I am mad by my bf when I am not (usually I'm depressed or sad when he tells me this). It drives me crazy too when I'm told that, and ends up making me mad.
Where do you find this scale? |
