Hi ~ It can be hard to control anger but it can be done if you're really committed to it.
What I have always done is THINK before I say anything -- or DO anything. Before I shout or open my mouth, I THINK about it first. Do I really want to say that, and if I do, what are the repercussions?? How much is it going to hurt the other person? Is it going to REALLY effect the relationship? Believe it or not, I DO question that? If I value the relationship with the person I'm angry with, then I have to be careful what I say whether I'm in a rage or not!! So I've basically "taught" myself to think before I talk. By this time it only takes a couple of seconds or so before I say anything or keep quiet. You can do it too if you try. It has saved my relationship because I'm Irish and have a rotten temper when I'm REALLY upset/angry. If you REALLY have a very serious problem with it, therapy is the answer. Have your doctor refer you to a good therapist. That will do the trick. God bless and please take care. Hugs, Lee ![]()

First you have to figure out what makes you "chill".

Anger can be associated to lots of mental disorders. Personality disorders, bipolar, PTSD, depression. If it's interfering with your functioning find a good Doc and look for a diagnosis. Is it anger and/or agitation, irritability? You need to pinpoint that so you can get a good diagnosis. Anti-psychotic medication is used for constant, severe agitation and may help. I've found if you can't pinpoint it a PDOC is going to have lots of problems diagnosing it correctly. (Took me years to figure out what exactly was going on inside of me because it buried me and controlled me and I had no idea what the exact problem was.) And most PDOCs will give you a diagnosis during the first session w/o digging into your life and looking at the dynamics in your life (which is poor analysis, imo). Studies show that a BP diagnosis takes on average 8 yrs to diagnose correctly. (BP overlaps with many other disorders including schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, OCD, unipolar depression, etc.)

With BPD the anger is unbearable and so is the depression. I'm going through that now. Can't find any help, or any friend. There's no way to "think"....but all is thought and madness and it seems absolutely hopeless. Been through this a million times and it goes away and always comes back. I have no life inside me and no one out there who knows or cares. There are words I can't use here to describe what I feel like doing. Whoever got any help from pounding a keyboard, will anyone even see this?

What does "seek therapy" mean? Call 13 cold unavailable overpriced incompetent quacks and spend a thousand shopping around and go broke and never get one anyway? Who does this NOT happen to?
