I try not to be confrontational, but sometimes people won't let me be.
Everything I become involved in, there's someone there to bother me. I mind my own business and refuse to get involved in petty situations. The more I try to avoid this, the more people want to suck me in. I admit, I have problems dealing with anger. I would rather walk away, then get involved in a possible volatile situation. I try not to get involved, but it's like people are "poking me with a stick, until I react. My reaction is ugly and I can become out of control, I don't like to go there. I'm in a situation now, that's coming to the point of an explosion. I have to see this person everyday and although I have tried to ignore them, they are constantly in my face. This person has no idea, how angry I can get. I will need to interact for another month with this person, until I can get away. How do I keep my anger under control? It's in my best interest, not to open this can of worms, but I feel like I'm on the edge. ![]() |

((Jolisse)),
Unfortunately we live in a world of people that tend to test the boundaries of others, it is just the fact of our human nature. It is important to understand that when your boundaries are being challenged, you have to learn how to come right out and inform people and do it in a "non threatening manner". Unfortunately, society is full of people who can be a tad bit ignorant when it comes to respecting the boundaries of others. And yes, there are also those who can go out of their way to disrespect the boundaries of others just to see if they can because they themselves have low self esteem and try to resolve that by some form of bullying. I can sympathize with your challenge because I have PTSD which is an anxiety disorder and if I am pushed too far I can explode too. I have had to slow down and pay attention to this issue and had to learn how to "avoid" certain intrusive people or, just come right out and let someone know they are invading my sense of personal space. You should look into DBT because I have met several members that have felt more empowered by it. |

Thank you Open Eyes.
I'm trying so hard to keep my cool, but I'm at the end of my rope. I try to handle situations in a non threatening manner, but many people see that as a 'weakness" and have no idea what lies underneath. The more BS I take from people, the angrier I get. This is not a good situation, I'm seething inside and when I blow, I can scare myself. |

I am having anger issues. Living at home with all the yelling and screaming is making me crazy. I have started drinking. My case manager was supposed to get me housing but she is a ****wad and didn't. I live on disability and have little money to relocate and right now I live in NYC (expensive)

I talked with my therapist today and she gave me a great way to handle my situation. I tried it and it worked, no anger and now I'm in control.

People who bully and harass others, are people who you should be angery with.
