I vented and whined to my mom every night, I live away from home. She is the only one that listens to me, and the only one I feel like talking to. When I talk to her, I realized that all my 'depressed talk' is making her depressed too, so I have decided not to reach out to her for comfort anymore.

It's been over 3 days, she hasn't called me either, I just hope she's happy, maybe I should just keep my misery to myself, that way, there is one less depressed person.

I'm not doing any better, but I'd be happy if she gets the impression that I'm happier and don't need her for comfort anymore. I do miss her, but I don't want to stress her out.

Do not feel guilty about this. I think you both been feeling the same for a long time now. It is possible she is depressed too, and it has nothing to do with you. You are not stressing her out. See her when you want to, and don't feel guilty that you are making her depressed. Most likely you are not making feel depressed.

I agree, you aren't going to make your mom depressed by talking to her about how you feel. If she is depressed, that is not caused by you. Maybe she is just sad to hear that you are not feeling well and empathizing with you? I think your mother would rather you talk to her if it helped you than for you to suffer silently for her sake.
