I am not good at putting emotions into words as often do not know what they are.If someone had asked me a few months ago if i got angry i would have said no not really very much. I thought of anger as an obvious negative perhaps violent feeling directed at a specific person or situation probably exsclusively. however i often feel an extremely overwhelming and difficult to deal with feeling which i now believe to be extreme anger of unknown origin or direction . i am basing this on a recent trigger and the fact that it is accompanied by an overwhelming desire to smash things , lots of things with maximum force and sound !!! need i say that this is of course not an option and i have been trying to substitute beating the you know what out of pillows !!this is quite a leap forward for me to both recognise this and to put it down in words so would really appreciate some feedback and if possible some more positive responses that would maybe satisfy the noise element. sorry for waffling probably my longest post ever !!! thanks for reading

Hi moody, I have a lot of anger too that rises with a specific trigger. The noise element, for me it's loud music (although not for some years now since my computer has been down). I once banged my file cabinet with a hammer and screamed but a neighbor called the police on me and they forced me to get evaluated at a hospital.

Smashed my phone , lost hundeds of photos.regret it now .louf music is good for me to distract sometimes but only really delays the need to physically do something. Have recently smashed contents of recycling box that was good but messy!

It's OK to feel angry, but important to know what's causing it. Once you can identify the root cause, you can begin to heal.
Anger is an emotion that will tear you up inside, if not dealt with. |

I couldn't agree more. Anger is something I have been dealing with lately. I don't know why or where it came from. I wonder if it's years of dealing with anxiety, depression and people walking all over me. I don't know. I am trying to figure that out now. I want to just scream at the top of my lungs. It's understandable to want to hit something and hit it hard. Look for the root cause. I am finding that writing it down is helping. Plus it will open your mind to what it could be.

Write anyway. I type and delete the next day. On paper I write illegibly by writing in all different directions. Getting things out helps.
