It's my birthday And I just wanted to ask;

How bad are birthdays for you?

I never want to celebrate my birthdays beacause I don't feel there's anything to celebrate other than the day I was doomed.
I get cooped up in a room with all the people who trigger my worst possible memories.

Lately birthdays are a little better since I spent most of my time with my sister's kids and just zone out everyone else.

The only worse day is christmass because I have to travel 200 miles outside my comfort zone to my parents' house.

I didn't really do anything for my last birthday. I just grabbed a burger from dairy queen. Didn't want a cake. I usually get a little depressed but overall they are okay. I just think that since it's MY birthday that I won't do anything I don't like. A lot of people will try to get you to use your birthday as an excuse to do things you don't want to do. Just say no.

I also hate having people sing happy birthday.

Hi Joheishan, I know birthdays can sometimes have the effect of feeling really pointless, disheartening, depressing..........but it's good that they've improved for you a bit lately
Perhaps try to see it not so much as another year passed, but another/a new year to come, in a good way!!! And a step further from the past.............?? Or a step towards moving on to better times............??
And you know if you need any support with the past, with things going on for you whenever, we can be here for you........just hit us up!!
So here's me, sending you warm birthday wishes.
And here's looking to the future.

I absolutely hate my birthday. I was an identical twin and she died in my arms. I was routinely and brutally abused all the time and just dot have family that gives a crap about me. Now my wife's family always do birthday dinners an I never want her to do mine but he always does. It makes her happy. She only does it for me cuz I don't have a family around. Also my wife doesn't allow me to lay around in a ball and just play video games by myself on that day.
