what exactly makes op uncomfortable about the allegedly superior nature of one gender over another? The original post does not make any evidence based points supporting female suprriority and rather projects a personal opinion on random things (a book OP didnt read, surveys, ads)
If OP gave specifics, we may be able to have a productive discussion. eg is OP interested in crime statistics and their relation to superiority of a gender? If so we can look at specific data to debunk any misinformed views. I would be interested in seeing the studies mentioned and learning the book title. We encounter people who are more talented than ourselves everyday, irrespective of gender. I have come to accept that I do not have the same privileges as others. Feminism and critical race theory (as well as to some extent post modernism) address these privileges traditionally enjoyed by white males of higher social classes. However some people seem to have misconceptions about these perspectives. Seeking equal access to opprotunities does not mean there is female supremacy. As is shown from OP's posts, some men are not comfortable with the idea that women can be as capable and valuable members of society as men. Feminism aims to slowly change this flawed mindset that womens' roles are restricted to certain areas. Both genders have limitations. Additionally, queer theories restructure gender as a spectrum, getting rid of outdated binaries. There are so many wonderful pioneer feminists that questioned systematic gender bias and if OP is interested, I'd be happy to share some books. It is thanks to some of these feminists that I can vote, sign contracts without the approval of a male relative an drive a car. We still have a long road ahead though. |

Hi, IT. This thread of yours gave me a headache yesterday, I'd pay attention to someone's post here where he/she was trying not to engage. I suppose that is the best attitude for me to hear everyone's thoughts on this matter.
I understand that this talk was done, a western culture as a background, that being said, here in my culture with huge man/woman inequality, some people likes to play the role if you know what I mean. People are sometimes just selling ****, that's why you come across all the things you don't even wanna see. That's just my opinion. |

Takeshi, if I understand you correctly, you generalized the situation for all Japanese women. While some choose to live (or feel pressured to live) according to tradtional male dominated customs, women (and men) increasingly take advantage of opportunities to shape their own lives.
After the Meiji restauration, women were less dependent on men and Feminism in Japan, while paying less attention to individuality. has brought about a lot of improvements for women (and non binary people). But Japan also has a long way to go, fot instance in addressing victim blaming attitudes for domestic violence victims and making workforce sexual violence legally punishable. |

Wow...this thread is depressing on so many levels...
Firstly, the whole idea of superiority/inferiority exists in the minds of some (not all) people. I can't even begin to work out what they mean. I can't see it in the world in any shape or form. I see equality. I can't see who is better or worse or whatever, I've just never come across anyone who is 'better' or 'worse', so it's not part of my experience. Of course, some people may be 'better' or 'worse' suited to me PERSONALLY, but they don't have more or less value because of that. Also, I now understand why the idea of feminism gets a bad rap...I'm not keen on a lot of feminist stuff because I think it takes an 'us' vs 'them' agenda sometimes and I don't see how that's helpful at all, but male suicide/violence rates have NOTHING to do with feminism (but they do have to do with pre-feminist cultural expectations of men). Essentially what you're arguing for IS feminism, although perhaps it should have a different name to make that clearer. Gender equality activists are fighting for harmful cultural gender differences (i.e. made up ones that damage society) to be demolished, which they hope will would reduce violence/suicide rates for men and rape/low pay rates for women. |

Bah, I can't believe this thread is still breathing.
No one is superior because we are all unique. Just because someone says something doesn't mean you have to believe it. Choose your own path. Be your own person. The herd ain't all it's cracked up to be. |

No one is superior. If we think like that, a whole people gets alienated. We should work together instead of fighting each other. Just my two cents.
