Ever since I was about 19, I've had these episodes of depression. I can get suicidal thoughts, illogical thinking, and I feel like I temporarily lose sanity. I remember it happened once before church, and I was outside on their playground, swinging in the rain. If I was in my right mind, I wouldn't have done that, but that happens when I'm in these episodes. I don't care as much about my appearance and how I seem to others. I feel as all of my logic shuts down and I'm left with my emotions. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I tell a psychologist about this when I can afford to go?

Aspie, i would tell your doctor and request for an apt with a neurologist for an MRI and any other testings... document the symptoms so you can give them to them when you get there.... blessings and good luck

My brain is fine. I don't have any neurological problems. If I did, my doctor would let me know. He's very thorough.

Just go with your feelings. Intrusive thoughts can be tied to depression. Do no act on the thoughts. However a situation you are in such as the church and rain can trigger depression. Thus trying removing your self from a depressing situation, and your thoughts may change for the better.

I'm not sure how things work there but I am assuming seeing your GP and even a psychiatrist is cheaper than a psychologist. I would start with your GP. They can help you with your Depression and start you on some medications. They can also start the process to establishing a team to help you with your mental health needs - like referring you to a psychiatrist.

Here many psychologists are pay for service UNLESS you have been referred by a doctor in which case it is usually then covered.

Same thing with work EPA programs. They will refer you to a psychologist and either cover or subsidize their care.
