I'm really sorry that he didn't have the ability to recognise and bring someone as special as you into his life
I would say that he has lost a lot through whatever problems he has
And I don't know if you want to keep reaching out to him or not, but family can be where you find them too, there doesn't have to be a biological connection.
And regardless of the "should have been's" from your past I know that now there are a lot of people who really do care about you on here
