But my parents want it. So what should I do? I really don't want to go out, definitely not in the right mood.. but my parents say that I should, I can't stay home all the time.
So what should I do? ![]() |

In my experience, when I don't want to go outside of my apartment and force myself to, 99.9% of the time I feel better after going outside. Generally it is good for our health to move around and be in the outdoors, even for short periods of time.
For some people though, getting out of the house is easier said than done. Perhaps you could start by going outside for shorter periods and working up from there? ![]() |

Well myself if I don't want to go out then I won't.. My daughter won't go out anywhere, I try my best to get her out but she's stubborn, So I just give up asking her, but when she does go out she enjoys it, It is just getting her to go out. I don't know what to suggest. If you don't really feel like going out then don't go.

I usually make myself go, especially if I know its somewhere "safe"... And mostly I feel much better for doing so.

Hi Mickey,
I'd say that it's about doing what's right for you/what you really need and not feeling pressurised by your parents because it sounds like you know a lot more about your situation than they know/understand right now ![]() So..........there are going to be times where it's just impossible to push through that barrier and make ourselves do something we don't feel we want/can do or doing it can just make the situation worse than it already is, and times when what we need more than anything is just to be by ourselves or away from........... But you know as well that sometimes isolation/not going out can just keep you "stuck in" or escalate those "negative feelings"........and the more that happens the harder it can get.......... But if you think that going out might be something you should do, or even just try, then maybe do it on your terms..........perhaps going to a local shop, perhaps going for a walk, perhaps going to sit in a park, perhaps going out somewhere you can "be alone" if that helps like swimming/the gym where you can be with/but block out other people if you want..........and you can make that time out as long or short as you want........ Although if "today" is not "the day" then maybe try to make firm plans for another day?? Just to avoid some of that "isolation"?? And if you need/want any motivation or support in helping making going out feel just a little better........then we're here ![]() But whatever you do, do it for you, hey?? Alison |

I often feel like this ,sometimes my h and I set a small target like going to our local mac drive thru get coffee we drink it in the car and come back so I don't even have to get out of car if I cant manage it but the option is there and i have left the house for a while,it works for me x

It's hard isn't it? Sometimes going out is like pulling teeth and it doesn't help if someone is pressuring you. Having said that, I get out about 50% of the time I try and I usually feel better when I do. I know it's tough.

The idea of going out of home is to change your environment experience to a different one, to freshen yourself up from the burden of being in the same place for a long time. I work on it, too. I go to a GYM, go to work, and even plan on going to the beach here and there. The more you go out, the more you will have to explore in the physical life, which is also important

I don't like it too, but sometimes I have to. Mostly because I have errands or something that I need to do, like buying groceries or printing important documents.
Maybe, you can start by going to nearby grocery store, buying personal stuff that you need or want to. |

I can relate. The only time I really go out of the house is for doctor appointments, which are weekly and I sometimes go on errands with Hubby. I have gone on a few picnics with Hubby but it usually takes a lot of convincing. If I were you I would start with small outings and build up from there. Is there a family member or friend that can go places with you at first? I know that I am more comfortable when I go out with my Hubby. I am proud of you for going out the other day if even just for a half hour.

![]() I already do go out with a friend from time to time.. it's usually pretty boring, though, so I usually try to avoid that :/ |

Given a choice, I would only go out of my perimeter for enjoyment, OR, of course, for the necessary errands. Other than that, I prefer to be home.
