When I talk about my allergies, I suppose it sounds so trivial.
I hate being so useless, Papa Bear has to do the cooking because I’m allergic to the air flow. Of the cooker. Or is it just that I’m “making excuses” / no it isn’t. I hate hate hate being so useless. It honestly makes me not want to be here. All the voices of the abusers in my head already tell me how useless and selfish I am., And now I am useless ![]() The medics talk about “controlling” the eczema. I had it before when the parental units treated me like an evil person and an emotional drain and a burden. And told me all those things ![]() bring back PTSD memories. I tried to talk to a therapist about some of this. He was interested in pretty young females, I was quite pretty. But he found me talking about eczema distasteful. I suppose it was and is. ![]() I feel like deleting this. I think it’s in the wrong forum (except that I don’t cope with it, I hate it and wish it would leave me alone ![]()

Please don't delete this, Fuzzy Bear.
You're not useless. That's just a phrase some name-calling, mean person put inside your head We all have our limitations. If somebody you knew needed to use a wheelchair or a walking stick, it would never cross your mind to think of them as 'useless'. And the therapist who likes pretty young women... Hmm.... There's nothing wrong with eczema. Lots of people have it, and yes stress does seem to make it worse. Thinking of you! |

You are not useless. I get like that at times too. I have a back injury so my husband has to do the grocery shopping shopping and most of the cooking. I feel totally useless, but I have to keep reminding myself that we all have value. When I tell my husband I feel useless he tells me that it's absolutely not true. You certainly give a lot of yourself here on the forum. That's is a living and useful thing to do.

You're not useless because you can't cook. And I hope Papa Bear doesn't think this and it's just the voices of your past making you feel that way One thing you could try, if your allergies will allow it, is to set up a "sandwich day" one evening. I grew up in a household where my mother did not cook much (she was a good mother to my sibs and me, but cooking was not her forte), and our family managed fine. So don't let this define your worth. ![]() |

Good for you not deleting this Fuzzy.
![]() Eczema can be very distressing, my son had it and he can still get a flair up when he is stressed. Not sure why a T would find you talking about this condition distasteful, that doesn't sound like a good therapist. |

You aren't useless. I think you have a warm hearted voice that is a positive impact around here.
So you aren't able to go near the stove; I am sure there must be other ways of contributing to the running of the household. My own allergies have made it difficult to leave the home since Fall arrived. I haven't been able to go anywhere. I am sure my constant coughing would clear the room. Closing the windows makes me feel penned in. I feel like such a drag. I look forward to that first snowfall for this to be over. In the meantime I realise this has been off-putting to others who must think I don't want to do anything. I think some of them are taking this personally. They certainly don't understand. Now when it comes to that cooker.... Are you able to contribute to meals by preparing foods that don't require cooking? Salads? Slow cooker/crock pot? Even sandwiches? |

((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))) You give a lot on here. You definitely are not useless, and as others said, we cannot help certain things like allergies that may hold us back. Old tapes of mean words and actions can haunt us and make us believe that they are true. For any abusive statement made towards you, deny it's truth and validity by looking at who you truly are and how things really are. You are wonderful just as you are!
